Drink about something
Rockville with us!
we're joined by Jesse's bestie Amanda to recap the highs and lows of this year's festival experience.
The physical toll of festival life becomes our first topic of conversation, with everyone confessing what's making them feel old this year—from leg pain to needing more frequent sitting breaks. But the joy of witnessing younger generations embracing the scene (complete with JNCOs and tank tops!) reminds us why we keep coming back year after year, with some of us celebrating our 10th Rockville anniversary.
We dive into detailed recaps of the standout performances from each day: Thursday's nostalgic sets from Blue October and a reunited Crossfade, Friday's wall-of-death masterclass from Left to Suffer and the iconic Green Day, and Saturday's soaking wet Beartooth experience that left us drenched but exhilarated. Between bands, we've navigated the challenges of festival camping, discovered the glory of Octane's cool-off booth, and reminisced about the Florida water parks of our youth.
The conversation takes a more reflective turn as we honor the anniversary of Chris Cornell's passing, discussing both his legacy and Chester Bennington's just months apart in 2017. We share lesser-known facts about these icons while exploring their musical influences and the suspicious circumstances surrounding their deaths. It's a poignant reminder to check in on friends and recognize the warning signs of depression.
As we prepare for our final day featuring Snot, Bad Omens, and Korn, we're excited to introduce the next generation to their first "Korn-ing" experience. Whether you're a festival veteran or considering your first rock festival, this episode captures everything that makes the exhaustion, weather extremes, and occasional difficult crowd members worth enduring for the unmatched experience of live music in its purest form. Support your local bands between festivals, buy their merch, and keep the spirit of rock alive!
Hey, Jesse, Welcome to Rockville Lindsay. We have a guest.
Speaker 2:Say hello. Hi guys, this is Jesse's bestie. I've had my besties on, so now it's his turn.
Speaker 1:Yes, my best. My bestie Amanda. No, don't you do that. Okay, Amanda.
Speaker 3:Thank you.
Speaker 1:Hello, hello, I'm Gen Z's bestie, gen Z's bestie.
Speaker 3:I love me some Gen Z.
Speaker 2:Yas, yas, yas. So here we are today, on day four of Rockville, recording on location in our canopy.
Speaker 3:Well, day four for you guys Day five for Amanda.
Speaker 1:Yeah, we're on turn four. For us it's day four and it's day four and it's iconic. It's the greatest fucking time that we could ever have in our lives. I love it so much.
Speaker 2:Absolutely Like. Rockville is like coming home every year. It's so great, I love it. We only get to see home once a year. I'm so tired. Yeah, we went hard last night and we are whatever you want to call it hung over, I guess yeah I'm not how are you not?
Speaker 3:okay mr crawling out, if you hear how we are sounding right now.
Speaker 1:Our voices are so shot. We've been screaming, we've been know Beartooth made us so wet yesterday.
Speaker 2:So wet.
Speaker 1:But we want to go over some of the shows we've already seen real quick before we start firing. And then Lindsay has a story that ties into everybody.
Speaker 2:Since this is going to be a lot of chit-chat episode, do you want to go ahead and cue the intro?
Speaker 1:We're going to cue this, I'm going to fire it and thank you guys for tuning in.
Speaker 2:Happy Friday for you guys.
Speaker 1:Yes, we are at Rockville. I think we partied a little too hard last night, I think.
Speaker 2:I did. We went hard. We had to go hard one night.
Speaker 1:That was it, that's all we got in it. That was the one night, that was the only. That was our hoorah. So, lindsay, yes. Lindsay, you ask me this shit all the time, and I'm going to ask Amanda over there too. Oh, okay, what made you feel me this shit all the time?
Speaker 2:And I'm going to ask Amanda over there too. Oh okay, what made you feel old this week? Oh God, well, start with Friday night, or Friday, no fuck, thursday. I danced so much and then when I got up like in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom because you have to walk quite a bit of ways to go potty my legs almost gave out on me. Yeah, but they're good now.
Speaker 1:How about you, amanda? I know she's thinking, she's like, I just don't know.
Speaker 3:Nah, so much. I am so like my whole body hurts. Me too, me too, good Lord, like they're me too, good lord, but no, honestly, um, oh god, what band were we even seeing? There was this little group of kids, this kid, these kids like these little girls, they were like 12, 13, and there was a little boy with them and I, I guess one of their dads, and they were us when we were that age, jesse, they were jingo kids, the girls. Both girls had on the JNCO shorts.
Speaker 1:I've seen them. And the little tank tops, I've seen them.
Speaker 3:Yes, and the boy had the pants and I was like, oh my God.
Speaker 1:That's us. That's us, we were kids.
Speaker 2:Yes, it has come back around oh my heart was so happy.
Speaker 3:I'm like oh's come full circle. And then my kid being here and rocking out to the same music that I've listened to for longer than she's been alive Ours as well.
Speaker 4:She's amazing.
Speaker 3:Yeah, my nephew too, my homeboy, yes.
Speaker 1:Yeah.
Speaker 3:It's so cool. That kind of makes me feel good in an old way, because now I can comment Good in an old way, yeah, old in a good way.
Speaker 1:Old in a good way. Yeah, so I can comment and say my dirty jokes now and it's still inappropriate, but it's more appropriately inappropriate.
Speaker 3:I mean, I brought my daughter to Rockville so she was fully informed. This is her third year, yeah, so she's fully aware of, but the shit that I was dropping.
Speaker 1:The shit that I've been dropping all weekend at this campsite has been insane.
Speaker 3:You act like these kids think out the interwebs and don't know all this shit. They know more stuff than we do sometimes.
Speaker 2:And also we are celebrating our 10-year anniversary at Rockville. Amanda, how?
Speaker 3:many, is this for you 12. 12.
Speaker 1:Yeah, and then Amaya's on three.
Speaker 2:Landon's on like seven. Yeah, yeah. And then Amaya's on three, Landon's on like seven.
Speaker 1:Yeah.
Speaker 2:Yep.
Speaker 1:So yeah, the years passing by so fast makes me feel old.
Speaker 2:But yeah, Fuck, yeah. Every year. It's like we were here last year and walking for like 12 hours straight and just dying makes me feel old.
Speaker 1:You know, I used to be able to hang, but we got to take more breaks when we're doing it, so many breaks I have to bring like a towel to sit on.
Speaker 2:I have to find a spot and squat. We're doing that today, for sure.
Speaker 1:Chill because my old bones can't handle this shit no more. And a huge shout out to Octane though they got like this whole cool-off booth thing and you can walk in there and you can meet rock stars. So that was awesome.
Speaker 2:They have a whole Vortex fan. It literally dried all the sweat off of me in like 30 seconds.
Speaker 1:It was awesome. The fans are just so fire. I've only heard one technical difficulty Like we went to Kill Switch and it was just like yeah, so I'm going to recap every day real quick.
Speaker 2:So on Thursday we saw Blue October and, um, it was hot as shit and we were on the rail by the sound booth and that metal burnt our asses but we sat on it for a few minutes, listen to them. Then we saw um crossfade y'allade back together.
Speaker 1:They did a great job.
Speaker 2:Super nostalgic. It was fire. Oh my God, they sound just as good as ever. And then we saw Asking Alexandria always a kick-ass show, fucking always.
Speaker 1:Just Danny is his vocals are there's so much Like we had to walk away half-sets, like. So like, as soon as I walk away, he's all like All I needed was a nasty little man.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I don't even try to sing, y'all get no singing this episode.
Speaker 1:I'm singing, dude. I don't care, my voice sucks, but I'm singing.
Speaker 2:I don't care I'm singing. I can't even like get a note out, though I've been suffering with allergy issues all week.
Speaker 1:She's been left to suffer and she wants to talk about that band too.
Speaker 2:Oh yeah, so that's coming on Friday. And then we saw Dillinger Escape Plan and that was wild.
Speaker 1:Their sound is so cool Shock and awe, very chaotic and wild and the guys are like 55 out there fucking killing it.
Speaker 2:They can bend, and they can stretch, and they can kick.
Speaker 1:I said that wrong.
Speaker 2:They can bend and they can stretch and they can kick. Yes, I said that wrong.
Speaker 1:They can kick and stretch and kick Dude was kicking off of every amplifier speaker, the drum set, the high rise shit throwing the fucking microphone, stand right out in the crowd and doing backflips naked off a coffee table. So I was just so fucking. I loved it. It's chaotic, it's so chaotic, math metal and I love it. You know it's a, it's an emotion, you know it's a, it's a whole vibe.
Speaker 2:And then we ended our night with Rob Zombie, and something about Rob energized or brought me back to life, and I danced the entire set.
Speaker 1:Honestly, I feel like that was probably the best Rob Zombie set we've ever seen.
Speaker 2:And I was going to say for Thursday, that was my favorite show. What was?
Speaker 1:yours Crossfade. Yeah, the nostalgia I mean singing those songs so emotional actually because of how much that we've put into the band and the family and just raising kids and singing songs, singing that shit out loud in the car all together, yeah.
Speaker 2:So, amanda, what was your favorite or what were? What did you see on thursday? Um, I don't remember okay so what was your favorite on thursday?
Speaker 3:like everything, it's all my favorite, but listen, no, we gotta go back because like y'all weren't here wednesday for oh we weren't.
Speaker 2:Oh yes, the Wednesday. Tell everybody about the pre-party.
Speaker 3:So there, well, there was a contest. I guess I heard radio contest and the winners played that and I don't remember their name. My bad Cause, I don't take notes, I just exist when I'm here. Yeah To the highest level.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I'm only taking notes because we're recording. Other than that, I would be.
Speaker 3:Yeah, yeah. Completely off the wind and then there was a band that was pretty wild, like knocking over the mic stand and oh yeah, you were telling us about that. He actually hit one of the faux togs with it and like it was pretty wild Called Deadly Apples. But then Josie Scott from Saliva. Okay, he was there they rocked out some of their hits that we all saw, along with.
Speaker 2:Oh, yeah, those are great sing-along sets.
Speaker 3:Absolutely. But then fucking Nonpoint came out. Oh yeah, we love Nonpoint. Yes, and you know they never, ever, ever disappoint.
Speaker 4:Never, they put on a great show Never, never, never.
Speaker 1:Ever, and then Pop evil after them.
Speaker 2:So yeah, and we saw pop evil with uh wage war not too long ago, yeah, orlandigo, orlandigo. Not too long ago in orlandigo, oh. But so, yeah, thursday was amazing. And then on friday, uh, we all three, all of us here sitting at this table. We kicked off the day with left to, which has been my hyper fixation band this year, and I love Taylor Suffers. He is just got epic death vocals.
Speaker 1:I thought I caught it. I thought I caught the wall of death and my phone did not record it because we'll be sharing clip.
Speaker 2:Jesse's going to put together a whole video of clips from the whole weekend.
Speaker 1:Oh it was so good it was. The wall of death for Left to Suffer was insane.
Speaker 2:And he was. They were really good. He was wearing a Sabrina Carpenter like jersey. That shit was so cool.
Speaker 1:I was like, yes, do it. I tried to holler at him.
Speaker 2:Yeah, later on, when we were about to see Butcher Babies, which I was going to talk about next Unfortunately, carla is no longer with the band, but Heidi kicked all the ass by herself.
Speaker 1:It was good, she was amazing, it was perfect actually.
Speaker 2:And then later on we saw her in the Octane stage and got a picture with her. Yeah, her in Jose, and then Jose our like fourth photo with Jose.
Speaker 3:Yeah, y'all found Jose without me.
Speaker 2:I don't even like y'all, we re-found him.
Speaker 1:We caught him in Jack's together. It was really cool.
Speaker 2:Yes, yeah, just on the side of the road, yeah, just like randomly on the street.
Speaker 3:Well, near the venue where the pre-show was happening. Yeah, so cool.
Speaker 2:Yeah, we were going to get food at a burrito gallery and a very familiar voice, and Jesse turned around too. He's like can we get a picture? I'm like, fuck yeah. And then Amanda. And then we told Amanda and she's like oh my God.
Speaker 1:He's like on the phone. He's like hang on a minute and he hangs up his phone. To take a picture with us, hugs all on Amanda and he's like, hey guys, what's going on? And then he we were so starstruck because we listened to. The fuck out some Octane. We love Jose, the metal ambassador.
Speaker 2:Yes, and then after that we saw super nostalgic Everclear Great sing-along band and we caught them a few years back at a Well, actually it's been 10 years ago. 10. Silas was a BB yeah, 10 years ago. 10? 10. Silas was a BB yeah, 10 years ago. We caught them at a Father's Day concert in Ocala, father of my life.
Speaker 3:I was going to say don't they sing that song?
Speaker 1:Yes, yeah, that was a cool time. It rained but we got all the bands in. It was really cool.
Speaker 2:Yeah, so Friday was a real busy day. So then we had Candlebox. And it's so funny because Danny McBride brought Candlebox to my son's life and when I told him he was singing that song and they were going to be at Rockville, he was so fucking happy, he was emotional, he loved that he was jamming that song one night. He pulled up to the house right when I was getting out of the car from work.
Speaker 1:He pulled up jamming. Isn't that like DNA, though, amanda? What's the name of that song, though?
Speaker 2:Far Behind. Yes, I think it's Far Behind.
Speaker 1:Like all those old bands are still playing our festivals.
Speaker 3:It's wild because, like Candlebox, I remember the first time I heard them I was like 13 and it was when I hung out at Wild Waters, when I would get like the season passes for the summer. Oh, Wild Waters was the tip y'all.
Speaker 2:Oh my God, If you're not from Florida, which we have, most of our listeners are not from here. We had this amazing water park in Ocala and it's gone now and it's fucking sad because it was the best time ever, and I lived in Slocala yeah, I grew up there, so that was one of the few things that we had to do.
Speaker 2:that wouldn't get us in too much trouble, and it was the coolest water park closest to us other than this place called Strickland's Landing that has some slides and jump-off docks on the lake, on Kingsley Lake. I don't even remember that you never went there. I've never heard of that Stark.
Speaker 1:Yeah, it's over there by that military base.
Speaker 2:It was so much fun. Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1:It's the same. It's the same, that big circle lake that they made the man-made circle lake.
Speaker 2:They had platforms you could jump off of, like three water slides, a bunch of kid slides and like they put them in the shallow.
Speaker 1:I never got to go, but I guarantee that Lindsay went to platform nine and three quarters. Oh, I went to all.
Speaker 2:That's so weird Jumping off of a tent, of a I don't know how tall it was platform, because you got to, like make sure you dive straight down.
Speaker 3:Are you butt flop or belly flop or back flop? Oh, we used to have stuff on the aklauaha and tall trees yeah, there was actually a spot that had some cliffs, I think it was like called turkey creek or something. I don't know. I was like five, six, seven going out there with my older cousins.
Speaker 1:Yeah, we used to go to like was it rainbow? What was it called rainbows rainbow island? Or when we used to powwow together, we would go to that rainbow rum. What was it called Rainbow Island? Or when we used to powwow together, we would go to that Rainbow no Rum Island. Was it Rum Island?
Speaker 3:There's so many places out in the forest called so many different things.
Speaker 2:I thought you told me it was called Pine Island. Yeah, there's Pine.
Speaker 3:Island, pine Island, rum Island. There's 50 of them out in the forest.
Speaker 1:It's so nostalgic, though, just thinking back of all the awesome things that we've done, you know, and just years and years of life. You know, it's really awesome.
Speaker 2:So then we caught a very short set of Ginger, because and she, oh my God, tatiana looked beautiful. They sounded amazing. We caught three songs. We met up with our buddy Targ, the cellist for Jesse's band, and then the party was on. So then we caught three songs of Ginger and then headed over to Sublime, and boy let me tell you what Well.
Speaker 3:We ran into Chris too. Oh yeah, well, that was after Sublime, was it after?
Speaker 2:Yeah, because we were going back over my bad Because we were going back over to the other stage to catch Kill Switch. But let's focus on Sublime for two minutes here, because God have mercy that was a beautiful experience to watch Bradley's son Jacob be the front man for his father's band, who died when he what did you say? 11 months old.
Speaker 3:I think Amaya, amaya, yeah 'd you say 11 months old? I think of Maya, yeah, I think.
Speaker 2:I think she said 11 months old, yeah.
Speaker 4:Yes.
Speaker 2:And he, they put on a great show. I mean, it was just absolutely amazing.
Speaker 3:Absolutely loving, honoring his dad and getting to play his dad's guitar.
Speaker 2:Yes.
Speaker 3:The little shout outs he did in the and he was, it was so amazing.
Speaker 2:He was so grateful for the crowd. He did in the his songs. It was so amazing. He was so grateful for the crowd. He was having so much fun and I read some karen on facebook later that night saying he was acting like he didn't want to be there.
Speaker 1:That could be the farthest thing from the truth biggest festival he's ever played in his life and he's not acting like he doesn't want to be. I mean what the fuck are you going to say that for like?
Speaker 2:he was so happy and he did such an amazing job and because he, he played hulaween in live vote, which is near us, and I think that had been his biggest one at that point wait, they played there yeah oh, how did I don't know that.
Speaker 3:Well, I've never been to hula, so oh god.
Speaker 2:Yet the people that came in after like I swear 75, because they come and eat where I work the day after, you know they pack up camp and everything and head home. We get overrun with them and I love them because they tip great and they eat a lot of food. But uh, like 75 percent of them were all wearing sublime shirts. That was like okay nice and um.
Speaker 2:So then, after our wonderful experience with sublime, we went over to catch some kill switch. But they fucked killillswitch on the sound Totally did. If you were at the back of the crowd you could not hear them.
Speaker 3:You couldn't hear anything. It was really bad. You could hear the band from wherever the other stage was playing. Don't even ask me which one.
Speaker 2:I don't remember that at all.
Speaker 3:Last night was the first time I had come back to camp by myself this whole time and I was kind of lost. I Last night was the first time I had come back to camp by myself this whole time and I was like kind of lost. I'm like hold up. I've always just like followed where my people took me.
Speaker 2:Where am I? You had to do it all by yourself, floating from stage to stage.
Speaker 3:Yes, just wandering.
Speaker 2:But then we ran into Jesse's drummer, Chris and his festival buddies and the party was even more on Yep. So then we got back over, got set up for Good Charlotte, had a great time with Good Charlotte.
Speaker 1:Oh, that was so fun. Oh, we danced.
Speaker 2:We danced and we drank and we danced and we drank. Well, Amanda didn't drink, but she's a gardener. Then we went and got set up for Green Day, which never disappoints Never. It's always awesome. But we did leave halfway through that because if you are a camper, you know that you got to get back early so that you can get a shower.
Speaker 1:That's us. We know the tricks, we're learning so much. If you're festivaling, learn the tricks and you'll have such a better time.
Speaker 2:Yeah, and then okay. So then, saturday we kicked it off with Of Mice and Men. So then Saturday, uh, we kicked it off with of mice and men.
Speaker 3:And then we went to P O D and got hype as fuck. Why are POD like one of those bands that are always good?
Speaker 2:Like every time you see them they are so good, so much.
Speaker 3:I mean just they're one of the few like that. Every time you catch them, it's not always going to be the same exact show, and it's always going to be a good time and they're going to bring it every time them 9.7 dust.
Speaker 2:We're going to get dusted today, yes, dusted today what?
Speaker 1:What about that time we hung out with POD Amanda?
Speaker 3:Oh, that was very fun. Oh, at the RV throwdown campground, whatever the fuck thing that was, it was so fun.
Speaker 1:Marcus was DJing and pouring fucking liquor in my mouth. Oh yeah.
Speaker 3:I was out, there we were back in the frickin' 90s rave clubs. Oh Lord, it was so fun.
Speaker 1:He had it crunk Big old bottle of liquor.
Speaker 3:I just walk up.
Speaker 1:We're talking about music and shit and he's just like here you go, bro Blim. I'm like holy shit, dude. The guitar player, my favorite fucking ch Life, is giving me bourbon right now. That was so fire.
Speaker 3:That was such a fun time.
Speaker 1:Lindsay had to miss that one. I did, but I was there in spirit.
Speaker 2:So during POD, me and Amanda's daughter, amaya, ventured up towards the front so we could get water hosed. And then we were like there's plenty of room up here, let's go back and get Jesse and Amanda, and we finished the rest of the show very close to the stage.
Speaker 1:And then it was another pit and yeah, and then they went into the pit. I got an award, you did. You got a, you got a blue dice, pit award participation dice. The pit was really calm because I'm old, so but it was fun and we were, we were close me and amanda was so close it was, it was perfect.
Speaker 3:No, see, that wasn't. That was like the happy people pit, like they were just skipping around and just having such a great time. They were all smiling. You could tell it was like people that normally wouldn't pit.
Speaker 4:Yeah.
Speaker 3:And they were just having the time of their freaking lives.
Speaker 1:And that's beautiful. They were so happy. Yeah, and pits can get rough. There was a couple of guys. We won't say that they were crowd killers, but they came in harder.
Speaker 3:They just came in to disrupt the people's happiness. They were douchebags.
Speaker 1:Yeah, well, they were like, ooh, there's a pit, Let me come in. And they went harder.
Speaker 3:No, because they could have just went like five people over to the other pit. The full-grown big nutsack pit. Yeah, not the shiny happy.
Speaker 2:people pit alone, shiny happy people pity bad.
Speaker 1:Or whatever, I don't know the name.
Speaker 2:So we got nice and moist for POD.
Speaker 1:So moist.
Speaker 2:And then we went to. So the kids went back to camp, and then we went to after the burial, and then Amanda did, because it was getting really hot, and then Mother Nature decided to show up for me and I was like all right we got this.
Speaker 1:I was prepared.
Speaker 4:I know the barriers are so bad, and then today Amanda woke up and hers came early.
Speaker 3:Mine was late. Oh, we are talking about that. Okay, oh, we're talking about that.
Speaker 2:Hers was early and mine was late, but since we've been together for three days, I guess we just synced up and here we are, Ladies and gentlemen.
Speaker 1:I'm surrounded by menstruation.
Speaker 4:Watch what you say, homeboy.
Speaker 1:Menstruation.
Speaker 2:So then we went and got set up for Beartooth, who fucking brought the house down as always. I love a Beartooth show, always and forever will. But we got fucking soaked. Yes, we got soggy ass soaked. It was nice because it was very hot, but it was still later in the day, it was what? Six o'clock, so we were not drying as quickly. So then, after Beartooth, we go to Iprevail and rocked out with Iprevail Good luck to Brian, for he had to leave the band for some health issues and rocked out with I Prevail Good luck to Brian, he had to leave the band for some health issues and we hope we wish him the best. But Eric still brought it.
Speaker 1:So good that motherfucker can.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I love Eric.
Speaker 1:Remember when there were babies. That makes me feel old.
Speaker 2:Yeah, that's what I was just about to say. All these bands were babies. We have watched Beartooth. He was such a goofball back in the day he was.
Speaker 1:He's so cool, man Big burly goofball.
Speaker 2:Yeah, you fucked with him at a At Warped Tour Like y'all had a. Y'all had a moment.
Speaker 1:We had a moment. You and Eric had a moment.
Speaker 2:Yep.
Speaker 1:They were babies.
Speaker 2:But we have watched Beartooth and I Prevail grow up.
Speaker 1:Shomo was a baby From Aw. I said little Shomo One o'clock time.
Speaker 2:No pyros. Now they both got later time slots. All the pyro, yes, all the pyro techniques, all the big show shit. And it's just been a. It's been a journey. I cried near and bear tooth.
Speaker 1:I was like when you got on them like really hard when he came through his like really transitional phase and then you listen to flora with her podcast I I love his, I love his podcast.
Speaker 2:Uh, top yeah, top five, yeah, and it was just so cool.
Speaker 1:My top five yeah, and they brought like rock stars in there with.
Speaker 2:I love his wife's podcast.
Speaker 1:Yeah, top 5. Yeah, and it was just so cool.
Speaker 2:My Top 5. Yeah, and they brought like rock stars in there with them and Caleb would get on there, jacoby's been on, jacoby Shaddix and Papa Roach has been on there. Chris Motionless has been on there.
Speaker 1:And it was good stuff. It was good and we watched Caleb like he's just a centered human being.
Speaker 2:Well, he battled with seasonal depression really bad.
Speaker 1:Yeah.
Speaker 2:And so he moved from Ohio to California. He's been on a health journey, sober journey, and you know good for him. I mean honestly good for him.
Speaker 1:The music changed a little bit, but we respect that Live though it's live, those songs that we didn't care for were still amazing. Yeah, fire.
Speaker 2:But that that live, though it's live those songs that we didn't care for were still amazing fire, but that was the end of our saturday what was your favorite saturday?
Speaker 3:over there, amanda your favorite show on saturday dude why you put me on the spot like that. You saw I was all like zoned out and you're like here let me ask her a question.
Speaker 1:They're talking, so I'm chilling.
Speaker 3:Yeah, no, I forgot who I saw already. Oh, I forgot to ask, Okay, first what?
Speaker 2:was.
Speaker 4:Friday's favorite show.
Speaker 2:What was Friday's favorite show? Come on, let me see who did we see? Okay, so Left to Suffer, but your Baby's Everclear Candlebox, ginger Kill Switch. Good Charlotte, green Day.
Speaker 3:Oh, Green Day.
Speaker 4:Awesome.
Speaker 1:Yeah, that was that day.
Speaker 2:So we all agree. Yes, yeah, my favorite was Left to Suffer. Yeah, yeah, I mean, Green Day is amazing. Always will be the best show that we've seen ever, but we've already seen them previous to this.
Speaker 4:So it was Amanda's first time.
Speaker 2:Right, but Left to Suffer was my favorite on Friday. They were really good.
Speaker 1:Yeah, so we kind of backtracked a little bit to catch up on Amanda's version.
Speaker 2:Okay, so now Saturday.
Speaker 3:Saturday Was that yesterday.
Speaker 2:Yours was probably POD, she's so festival right now.
Speaker 1:My besties over there are so zoned out.
Speaker 3:I'm having such a fucking amazing time.
Speaker 1:Yes, this is awesome. Is it fun? Oh yeah, thank you such a fucking amazing time.
Speaker 3:Yes, this is. Is it fun?
Speaker 1:yeah, thank you for being here with us no thanks for being here with me like yeah, this was my thing I brought you all remember.
Speaker 3:Vice versa yeah, all of it. Um, who did we even see? I spent so much time at camp yesterday just relaxing because I knew today was the day it's gonna be hard. Today we're fixing to drop that one too. God, it was just everything I did manage to say, and it does it does Like.
Speaker 1:The longer you stay here, the more everything just meshes together.
Speaker 2:It does. That's why I had to look back at the schedule to remember what day we saw who.
Speaker 1:I'm sure Amanda's over there on a gummy pie right now.
Speaker 2:I had my breakfast.
Speaker 1:Your breakfast, my breakfast.
Speaker 2:Oh, and I want to make a quick shout out, we are not sponsored by either one of these. Okay, so I want to shout out Sinister, love Cosmetics, your lip stain, what color is this? Dead of Night, it lasts all day through food and drink. So we've seen them at the Horror.
Speaker 2:Con right At Spookalla, At Spookalla okay, and we bought some lipstick and we'll put a a link. If you ladies out there want a nice good lip stain, we'll post their link in the show notes because you can get it online and it comes in pretty little packaging and a pretty little container. And then also Duo I wrote it down waterproof eyelash glue. You help my lashes stay on through the super soaking that we got with Beartooth.
Speaker 3:And I appreciate you. I don't know Lindsay's makeup is always so perfect. Thank you, and even through like fest, like up there on the rail getting splashed and thrashed.
Speaker 2:It took practice.
Speaker 3:It stays on, so amazing.
Speaker 1:Hours later she is like crisp. It's got to be great.
Speaker 3:I'm not good at being a girl like that, but Lindsay nails it and all the stuff she uses is perfect. Thank you so much.
Speaker 2:Yes, if I mentioned all the products, would be here all day. But so yeah, let's not do that, I'm gonna assume, because you pretty much went back to camp afterwards. Your favorite set was POD yesterday.
Speaker 3:POD was great yeah it was so great Like I would have liked to go back and seen some of the other bands yesterday evening, but I was, like you know, I could just chill here and save what's left in these old bones for today.
Speaker 2:Well see, that's what happened, Because today's the day. We were so soaked and so we asked out after I Prevail? And we were like you know what? We'll just go back to camp and get fucked up. And that is absolutely what we did. And we partied, we wandered around and met people.
Speaker 1:I won't say that I overdid it, but I fucking overdid it, me and Amanda accumulated some little tiny hands and it was perfect.
Speaker 2:Oh, where's my tiny?
Speaker 1:hands. I met another band from Atlanta that we're going to be featuring here in the future.
Speaker 3:That was pretty cool. Yeah, it was really cool meeting them. That we're going to be featuring here in the future. That was really cool. Yeah, yeah, it was really cool meeting them.
Speaker 1:Tiny hand.
Speaker 3:I don't know where mine is. Oh my God.
Speaker 2:So we are now going to recognize some of our favorite fallen rock stars who we lost, both of them in 2017. So we're going to start with Chester Bennington, who is the lead vocalist of Linkin Park, known for his very powerful vocals and passionate performances, but did you know that he was also the lead singer of Gray Days and Dead by Sunshine?
Speaker 1:No, I didn't know that. But I know that he did some stuff with STP too.
Speaker 2:Yes, I was going to say, and he briefly fronted uh, stone temple pilots, how, what, how? How do you feel about chester? Was he a big icon for you? I mean, I obviously heard his music a lot yeah because you know it was a new metal yeah, they came out when we were like young adults I didn't really get super heavy into them I did not either, but you have to appreciate that absolutely no, like the lyrics and everything really did hit home and stuff I just didn't vibe completely with what.
Speaker 3:I don't know why.
Speaker 1:What I like for me. I bought that album five times.
Speaker 2:Yeah, he told me about that. But what I really liked about their influence is a lot of people that didn't already listen to that genre they started listening more because, of Linkin Park.
Speaker 3:Yeah, no, I don't have anything bad to say about them ever. Just you know.
Speaker 2:Did you know that Chester was a huge fan of Madonna?
Speaker 1:Really yeah, big influence right there.
Speaker 2:Big influence, along with Depeche Mode. Did you know that before his music career he worked at Burger King? Chester was flipping burgers and frying some front fries.
Speaker 1:Making the Whoppers.
Speaker 2:Making the Whoppers, which is my favorite, probably my favorite fast food burger. But oh, other than if you get a double quarter pounder at mcdonald's but tell them to add mac sauce it is so good, it's fucking perfect.
Speaker 2:Yes, it's the trick, it's beautiful there's my fast food hack of the day. Yeah, or period, because I've never said one before. Um, his favorite color was pink, that's so, and that is awesome, because my oldest son's favorite color was pink. That's awesome. That is awesome because my oldest son's favorite color is pink and he's not ashamed of it. I love that.
Speaker 1:Well-rounded, artistic, just beautiful. I know Shinona, though, led so much for Linkin Park. He just did all the work and he's still pushing it now. Their new singer is fire, and they just played last night. We didn't see them because we were old, but check it out at rockville, and that was her biggest festival, as with lincoln park yeah, yeah, yeah or did they just play coachella, didn't they?
Speaker 2:wait, they probably did, I don't know, I don't know, all I know about coachella is what I learned from Mario and Bryn on TikTok and on their podcast. Pretty funny.
Speaker 3:Yeah, I don't talk in TikTok.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I love TikTok. You can zoom scroll for hours, man.
Speaker 3:See so much great content. I do plenty of that without another app. That'll suck me harder into it. I'm good.
Speaker 1:Hours and hours, and hours of playing.
Speaker 3:I don't need that in my life.
Speaker 1:Flicking the bean that's what I call it whenever you're scrolling up. I'm just going to sit here and flick the bean.
Speaker 2:And other musical inspirations. He said Mark Tetrimony of Breaking Benjamin, chad Kroger of Nickelback and Slipknot, so it doesn't specifically say Corey Taylor. So yeah, that's along with Depeche mode and stone simple pounds. I love me some Depeche mode. Yeah, they're a whole ass vibe so you listen to them a lot more. You're a bigger fan. Name some huge fan. Yeah, name some of your favorite songs.
Speaker 1:I mean of course closer and just you know, there's just so much there. There's just all of it, like the whole Hybrid Theory album, every song in it is DNA.
Speaker 3:I have heard that name and the songs on there are really good Like I'll vibe with it, but it's just not like my go-to. Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2:The song that Defy covers by them I think is my favorite and I cannot think of the name of it.
Speaker 1:Oh, Defy the Tyrant. Uh-huh. Oh, I love them yes.
Speaker 2:They cover. They've covered it with David from David Rowe from Fighting Giants. They sing it together and I cannot remember what fucking song is that. I need a little room to breathe. That one, oh, that's closer. That is oh, okay. Yes, that one yeah, so Defy, that's closer. That is oh, okay, and I'm about to break yes.
Speaker 4:That one Okay yeah, yeah so. Defy.
Speaker 2:Kurt and David sing that one together. Well, if they're in the same venue together doing their shows.
Speaker 3:That's cool. There are so many local bands that do that, yes.
Speaker 2:And David and Kurt both got like powerhouse vocals man.
Speaker 3:Yeah, there's so many good local bands I love powerhouse vocals man.
Speaker 2:Yeah, there's so many good local bands. I love it all right. What else do we got? So that's pretty much all we have on chester and unfortunately, um, we lost him by. I'm gonna say, quote unquote, suicide, because there's a lot of I mean, I just don't know. There I went down a long rabbit hole about him and the artist I'm going to talk about next.
Speaker 1:I feel like suicide, with a conspiracy theory behind it. We'll say, right, maybe.
Speaker 2:I'm not. I just want y'all to know. I'm not a conspiracy theorist at all. I'm not, but there was just a lot of coincidences.
Speaker 3:A lot of shit. Don't add up.
Speaker 2:A lot of shit don't add up. I lost him on July 20th 2017, and he was only 41 years old, and he was found at his home in Palos Verdes Estate in California by hanging and there was no note left, and toxicology reports showed only a trace amount of alcohol in his system.
Speaker 1:There was yeah, and his lyric and and his emotions are a big spectrum, so like there was a lot to fall back on. But I feel like lincoln park and everything was firing back up like he had so much going. His kids were getting older, he was ready to push the, the new album you know they they had recorded remember that song song that they had recorded and they released it after Chester had died and it was just, it was so beautiful.
Speaker 1:Yeah, it blew the fuck up and then, you know, mike just couldn't stand it Like he went on, you know, and that's a great thing, a female singer. Now Linkin Park, is killing it back again.
Speaker 2:They headlined last night. They did we did not catch their set. Like I said, we were just too stoked we had to come back and dry out. Yeah, we had planned on staying for a few songs.
Speaker 1:I was kind of like uh, but now it has sank in, it's solidified. She is doing a great job and I'm so proud of them for keeping on going.
Speaker 2:It's amazing, so we always want to remember him. He was an icon, did so many cool things in the music world and just everything, and we're going to talk about him just a little bit more after we talk about the next artist who today is the anniversary of his death, and that is me and Jesse's favorite. Well, mine is tied with him and Eddie Vedder, but our favorite grunge musician, which is Chris Cornell yeah, it is Chris Cornell.
Speaker 1:Yeah, soundgarden was my fucking jam. That was my real, more than Nirvana, more than anything, that just the sound that come out. You know Black Hole Sun and everything was just DNA.
Speaker 3:And I couldn't. I still still just thinking just hearing the name Black Hole Sun. I start seeing the music video in my head, me too.
Speaker 1:Melody Ice Cream Faces yeah.
Speaker 2:Such a good music video.
Speaker 1:Shrimp on the Barbie.
Speaker 3:Such a good fucking music video. It's wild. I love it. I love it.
Speaker 2:There is nothing like 90s music videos or even 80s.
Speaker 3:Like but back when MTV did like videos.
Speaker 1:I mean how proud are you right now, whenever you go to these big ass music festivals and you see all the bands we grew up listening to headline?
Speaker 2:Yeah, yeah, and you know seeing, Soundgarden, like in 2017, we all saw them together.
Speaker 4:It was a beautiful experience.
Speaker 2:I cried the entire set. Had no idea why, but then a couple weeks later I kind of figured it out. But Chris Cornell was one of the architects of grunge in the early 90s. He is one of the three most important figures in this movement, other than Kurt Cobain and my favorite, Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam, and he reached legendary status with his band Soundgarden and their unique sound.
Speaker 1:Yeah, real quick though. A shout out to the Melvins. You know, got to give Melvins all the props because I believe they created grunge music. You know the Melvins just in buzz from the Melvins, with his big fucking hair all sticking out everywhere. Dude, it's wild, wild, love it. So shout out to the Melvins always when we talk about grunge music, because they deserve the recognition. Nobody knows who they are.
Speaker 2:I'll say Jesse always makes sure that they get plugged. If you're talking about grunge, he's going to throw the Melvins in there. I love them. So, of course, and Chris sang, lead along with my boy, eddie Vedder, in Temple of the Dog. That was one of the bands that he was in, oh yeah. And then, of course, soundgarden amazing, iconic band for forever. And then, when Zach DeLaRocca left, rage Against the Machine, chris Cornell was like you know what? Here I am, let's do this.
Speaker 1:I just got chills and then we got Audioslave. I just got chills. I'm looking over in Lindsay's notes.
Speaker 3:You're not supposed to look at her notes.
Speaker 1:Well, there's a picture. There's a picture and I just got chills. I'm reading the picture, but the nostalgia and just missing what they could still be creating by both artists. You know, and it's unfortunate, you know, and so this is more of a, in this segment for sure, suicide awareness like pay attention to people around you and talk to them. You know, don't let them sink down into anything that could ever, uh, succumb to this.
Speaker 2:You know, in this moment, and what's amazing is uh Tom Morello, my favorite guitarist of all time, um next to uh Jimi Hendrix and slash and now sinister Gates, like that's my love.
Speaker 2:He's rose up yeah the rings yeah so tom morello was actually a big fan of chris cornell and he was like, please come sing with us. And it was me and jesse were watching an audio slave performance on youtube one night and chris cornell literally said everybody, give it up for my favorite band because it is Rage. And we got the pleasure of seeing Rage with Chuck D and Be Real, the.
Speaker 1:Prophets of Rage.
Speaker 2:Prophets of Rage Supergroup, which was absolutely phenomenal and they had DJ Lord.
Speaker 1:Who else DJ Lord drops the biggest bass drops in your fucking life?
Speaker 2:I mean like Any show you can feel that shit in your the biggest bass drops in your fucking life. I mean like any show you can feel that the biggest bass drops, freaking uterus.
Speaker 1:Oh my God, I don't even have a uterus.
Speaker 3:Those super groups were like one of my favorite things ever. Oh, they were so fun.
Speaker 1:Like hell yeah, Hell yeah, oh my dad, yes, yes, and I don't even have a vagina, but it would make it like rattle every time, every time DJ. Lord Boom.
Speaker 2:So yeah, so it was a combination of Public Enemy, cypress Hill and Rage Against the Machine and we got to see them at the St Augustine Amphitheater and that was a magical ass fucking night.
Speaker 3:Why the fuck didn't y'all take me with you?
Speaker 2:I don't know. We drove there and back on a Saturday night it was a fling, it was a fling, I think. I don't know. I want to say that I know more Audioslave songs by heart, but I don't think that's true Equally between Soundgarden and Audioslave? I probably, I think.
Speaker 1:I yeah, like Show Me how to Live and things like that. You don't recall. Soundgarden knows yeah.
Speaker 3:Soundgarden had a Soundgarden had an amazing catalog oh my God, they even had a song on a video game, on this little motorcycle game I played when I was a kid. That's amazing.
Speaker 2:I don't remember.
Speaker 3:It was the Rusty Cage.
Speaker 2:Oh yeah.
Speaker 3:Yeah.
Speaker 2:Yes. Yeah, I would play that game for hours and just put that song on repeat because it was the coolest song on the whole game, that little breakdown in Rusty Cave, that, oh my God. I love it so much. But I don't know if I can pick a favorite Soundgarden song. Could you guys Just one favorite?
Speaker 1:One favorite no, no, me neither no no, love them all when it fires up, love it.
Speaker 2:I can say that Cochise is my favorite audio slave song, though.
Speaker 4:Yeah.
Speaker 2:Yeah, that's my favorite audio slave song. That's really good. I love them all too, but I can honestly say that's a favorite. But Soundgarden, there's just too many that I love. I could just listen to them on repeat, and after we lost this man, we listened to nothing but Chris Cornell for a very long time. So, Chris, he spent a lot of time listening to the Beatles. He actually hyper fixated on them from the time he was nine years old to 11. That's awesome. And then he— you can't break away from the Beatles.
Speaker 1:It's part of your life it literally is it's in everything and you know that movie that we love yesterday. Yeah, you need to watch yesterday watch that movie it gives you a little taste of what life would be like without the Beatles and then they were the only one to live, that he was the only person that actually remembered, remembered.
Speaker 2:there was like three total that ended up, but yeah.
Speaker 1:Yeah, because of the yellow submarine.
Speaker 2:And then he went on to. He hyperfixated on Little Richard and the Fab Four. Okay, but so when they formed Soundgarden, they despised major labels because they didn't believe that they had the best interests of artists at heart.
Speaker 1:That is good. You're not trying to follow the corporate wave of music, so you're just like fuck your record labels, I want to do my own shit, and now you can get away with it. You couldn't then, though, you couldn't get away with it, but now, just like Aurora Wave, like there's so many bands now that are huge and famous and they just do that shit on their own and it's their money, their work, their money, yeah, so I love it.
Speaker 2:So they did the damn thing and they wanted to retain control of their recording masters publishing rights. So they signed with an independent label. They got that was their Ultra Mega album Okay, and they won a Grammy for that, I'm sorry. Okay, and they won a grammy for that or that. I'm sorry, they were nominated for a grammy for that. And then after that they did sign with a and m records and that made them the first grunge band to sign with a major label. So they must have done a lot of negotiating and shit to finally get on board with that yeah, because you don't want to get fucked too bad for all your work, you know you work.
Speaker 1:You can spread it out a little bit, but they deserve all the money, all the recognition, their shit, the rights. Any band should have all of their own shit and own it.
Speaker 3:That's why a lot of bands have started their own labels, because they were tired of the fuckery.
Speaker 2:Yeah. Well then their fourth album, super Unknown, which is probably my favorite.
Speaker 2:Definitely my favorite Became a massive worldwide hit that has songs like Black Hole, sun and Spoon man. I love fucking Spoon man. I love that song. I love the story behind that song, and do you know that? Oh my God his name. I can't remember his name. Oh my God His name. I can't remember his name, but he is a. So the song is about a street performer in Seattle that Chris became very close with, and he performs with spoons and he's featured on the music video. If you want to look it up, I highly recommend it. He was one of the first to know about Chris's death. Wow, yeah.
Speaker 1:He other than his family. That like. That's how close, close chris stayed with that man and he's, yep, beautiful and he was.
Speaker 2:he's still a street performer, or he was. Last time I went down that rabbit hole, which was a few years back, but, um, I mean, chris was, he was. So what's the word I'm looking for? His voice was so good that not only did Tom Morello love him, axl Rose, ronnie James Dio, alice Cooper, eddie Vedder, of course, vernon Reed and Scott Stapp also, just like, praised him constantly, and I remember reading a little interview that somebody did with Serge from System of a Down and he, just he, loved Chris Cornell, he loved his vocals.
Speaker 1:It was one of his favorite singers Huge inspiration for music that just kept on going, you know.
Speaker 4:Yeah.
Speaker 1:I feel like Chris could have been a Beatle. Oh, absolutely, if he would have grew up some years before and just I miss how much content and how much music that they could be both creating, chris and Chester. That's the sad part, because we wanted more, and there's where in lies the selfishness of somebody passing. But we're allowed to be selfish because they shouldn't be gone, you know.
Speaker 2:No, I 100% agree. So we saw them Rockville 2017, like we said before and that was when it was still in Jacksonville and it was in late April back then. And it was in late April back then and then literally, I want to say it was the last weekend of April. And then, about 18 to 20 days later, I got a text from my bestie, erin, in Jacksonville it was like 6 in the morning because she was on her way to work and I had just woke up to get the kids ready. And she said girl, she said Chris Cornell has committed suicide. And I I was in shock for a minute. Then I went to go wait, landed up and I just like, crumpled in his closet, getting picking out clothes for him Like I'm getting teary right now and then Landon woke up and he's like mom, what's wrong? And I told him and then we just sat there in his closet and sobbed for like five minutes.
Speaker 1:She was. She came to me sobbing. It was, she was broken. I was too.
Speaker 2:And I cried almost every day over him. For I want to say a month, like that's my biggest celebrity death other than Robin Williams, that I have. Just that shit broke me for a minute. I would just sit in my car or I don't even did I have the car or the van. Then we had the van. Then, yeah, I would sit in the van and we would just listen to anything Chris Cornell related for our his acoustic shit just over and over.
Speaker 1:You had like a six, six. It was like six months you listen to everything, chris cornell, and, and in that, in that pocket, that was like chris, and then chester, you know, and it was like bam, bam, whoa man, what the fuck, you know, and we were just, we were shocked, you know that.
Speaker 3:Yeah, it was crazy.
Speaker 2:Oh yeah. So, like we said today, this is May 18th, on the day we're recording this. This is what is that? Eight years, 2017? May 18th, he was found in his hotel room after performing at the Fox Theater, and his last song that he sang that night was In my Time of Dying, which was a cover of a cover. Led Zeppelin covered it, but it's an old gospel song, I think, because I told you listen y'all. I went down the deepest rabbit holes over this shit and it was just very ironic to me how that and then he was gone. That was his last song and then he was gone. That's crazy. That night and it was ruled suicide by hanging at the Wayne County Medical Examiner's office in Detroit.
Speaker 2:Both of them Both of them.
Speaker 3:Within two months of each other. I am not a conspiracy theorist, but I guess I should start making a tinfoil hat, because that shit's fishy, fishy yeah.
Speaker 1:So we should do that from now on. If we ever get into conspiracy theory stuff, the tinfoil hat.
Speaker 2:Oh my God, yes, we're going to make them just for that.
Speaker 1:We're going to say we should make a tinfoil hat. That's awesome, Amanda.
Speaker 2:Well, and what's crazy also is both Chester and Chris had been sober for a very long time Now. Chester, there was hardly any trace of anything in his system, but Chris, his system contained lorazepam, barbiturates, nala zone, but they were all considered, but they were not considered contributing factors to his death. Now, for a few years I don't know if it's a still ongoing fight, but his wife it was suing I'm not sure which pharmaceutical company because she feels like that. That brought him to what happened. But my biggest coincidental mindfuck about both Chester and Chris's death was they were both working together on exposing a Hollywood pedophile ring and they were very close to getting that done and then we lost them.
Speaker 1:Yeah see, that's a real fucking thing.
Speaker 2:You know, and they were trying to put that out there.
Speaker 1:And all of a sudden they just fucking go away out of nowhere when their life was all together and they're doing great. You know he's back on tour. Sound guard was back together. They were going to write new stuff.
Speaker 2:Chester was doing and there was also talk of the audio slave reunion as well.
Speaker 3:Yeah, he had plans could have used another one of those I they would have, it would have went so well with all the other bands that are coming back yeah, they would have been headlining here.
Speaker 1:Yeah, for sure, oh my gosh. And it's just like you got all this shit going for you.
Speaker 3:Yeah, I'm getting it now it's that same.
Speaker 2:Because I grew up in a sheltered home, I wasn't allowed to listen to anything that I listen to now, so I would have to either sneak it on my boom box and listen to it very low in my room. Um, I remember giving people my allowance money to buy me like corn. Uh, follow the leader. What else was?
Speaker 3:it limp biscuit columbia house.
Speaker 2:Five cds for a dollar, oh god no if that had come in the mail, my daddy would have like burnt them in the fireplace or some shit.
Speaker 3:Yeah would he make you sit there and watch and cry?
Speaker 2:He, when I was 17 years old and paying for my car, he got in to move it to mow the grass and heard my Marshall Mathers CD or it was tape, excuse me, it was tape, it was tape deck and he broke that shit and threw it in the garbage. I had to go buy another one. Yeah, that's how my dad was damn yes, and I had. I had a rage, I had paid somebody for rage and I'm not sure what album it was. What's the one with the cape?
Speaker 2:that's when I had evil empire, and I also had to. I had somebody buy me the godzilla soundtrack because rage was on that and several other artists that I liked were on that soundtrack. But I had to keep all that hidden. Couldn't, could not, and had to listen to it on very low volume when my parents were in their room with their noise box in their in their fans on the more time we spend conversing with Lindsay, the more I just want to give her a big, long hug for how much that she missed in life.
Speaker 1:Now, me and Amanda over here, like we grew up with this stuff. We had it as we were growing up. She had to sneak and do all that stuff. Don't raise your kids like that. Now you can tell them hey, let's wait till you're a little bit older, you can listen to the songs that aren't so nasty.
Speaker 2:You know, if it's Eminem or if it's whatever, they're talking crazy shit. You know, I mean, I was 17. What were we listening to?
Speaker 1:though, goddamn.
Speaker 3:Trick Daddy or something last night. Yeah, I mean I'm not gonna say I shelter my kids, I am like a helicopter mom, I mean I'll kill them Well.
Speaker 2:Hovering and sheltering is two different things, but I mean We've exposed them to life.
Speaker 3:They listen to my playlist.
Speaker 2:Yes.
Speaker 3:And they've shown me music and I'm like, oh, you think that's gross. So I showed them some 2 Life Crew, but they had already heard it at that point. So what was?
Speaker 1:I really showing them With how easy access to everything is now. So it's kind of like no holds barred everywhere.
Speaker 3:Just talk to your kids about stuff.
Speaker 1:Yeah, you can tell them, hey, this is not the way of life. Life, these are just artists. They're not really. They're not really like this. You know, sing along with it, go ahead. Yeah, have fun. Whatever you know, do it. I mean, we love cannibal corpse, but you know, nobody's, nobody's coming blood I would hope not. If so, please see a doctor, please see a doctor, this song is about shooting blood from your cock remember when silas, when we saw guar, yeah, yeah he's like he's got four penises.
Speaker 1:We got a little bit of GWAR then. Lindsay was. We didn't talk about GWAR, no, we got to see a little bit of GWAR the other day.
Speaker 2:I did not mention GWAR, yeah.
Speaker 1:No, I didn't put it on the list. It was the first day, yeah.
Speaker 2:So first day I asked out a little bit. We did come back to camp rejuvenate but we got two GWAR songs before I overheated and was like I don't know, yeah, we had to come dip out and chill out, so I guess that's your old thing, but it's a good thing that we pace ourselves.
Speaker 1:Yeah, that's how you have to do it Now. We're so seasoned now in festivals we're going to go see a nostalgic band here in a minute. So seasoned now in festivals, we're going to go see a nostalgic band here in a minute and I'm so excited about that shit.
Speaker 3:Yes, Jesse is crunk about snot. I am so excited too. Is it time yet?
Speaker 2:Oh, no, it's 11.39, so we got two hours. Yeah, we don't have long.
Speaker 1:We're going to tie all this stuff up pretty soon, but I wanted to elaborate about today because I mean, it's going to be an amazing ass day.
Speaker 2:I'm pulling up. So we've got snot, we are going to get dusted, we're going to get a little bit of attack attack. Seven hours after Violet, this will be a new one for me.
Speaker 1:I'm excited to discover them. You've been asleep on it, but now it's time. Now it's time.
Speaker 2:I had never heard of them until this list, so I haven't really been asleep on it. I'm just now finding out.
Speaker 1:Oh, the pod. Before this I was telling you about it.
Speaker 2:Remember we were, I was like oh yeah, you're right, you're right.
Speaker 1:That's the basis from System of a Down's new band. That's fucking awesome.
Speaker 2:Then we're going to catch some motionless and whites. It's negotiable, mud vein, unnegotiable.
Speaker 1:Fuck, yes, yeah that's happening, amanda's favorite. Tell us about mud vein over there, amanda.
Speaker 3:What you want to know about some mud veins, some veins of mud, what you want, what you want, what you want.
Speaker 2:Well, how about you share about the asshole Metallica fans?
Speaker 3:Oh fuck those guys.
Speaker 2:In 21. Those are douchebags.
Speaker 3:So of all the kinds of shows and everything I've been to rock shows, metal shows always the best. I mean I've been hit with trash cans and stuff like that.
Speaker 2:You have crowd surfed, a trash can.
Speaker 3:I did, but that trash can tried to kill people. There was a hole in the crowd. So Amanda was like, let's get this shit out of here. No crowd surfers were falling in the gap there and I was scared one of them was going to fall on it and get hurt.
Speaker 1:It was just and you just picked that bitch up and you're like take this shit out.
Speaker 2:I was on the rail and I seen it coming up, and then you were like I did that, yeah, so saving lives, you know.
Speaker 1:And, of course, the jumbo Tron. Like caught it. Like there's a crowd surfing trash, can it's going to be on the Tron. That was a great year.
Speaker 2:Yeah, yeah, so um, anyways, back to mud vein 2021, 2021. Oh yeah, when you, uh, you, you nicely asked the gentleman in front of you.
Speaker 3:Well, so I have my face all Chad grade up. Lindsay painted my face for me and, uh, you know we were up there trying to. We were right there behind the tall like seven and a half foot tall fucking musky, muscular musky, smelling ass, douche bag, dickheads.
Speaker 2:Douchey we love.
Speaker 1:Metallica, but don't be a douche.
Speaker 3:No, don't be a douche at festivals and I mean, I asked them really nicely like you know, y'all really super tall dudes there Mind if I get on the rail just for this one band, and then you, you know, I'll back up and make sure your spot's back. You were a foot and a half shorter than them. Yeah, it wouldn't have been a problem for them to step back tall.
Speaker 2:And they were like no, no, and I was like asking nicely and they just kept saying no and amanda would have 100, given them their spot right back yeah, I mean, I like metallica, but not like them guys no, because you were there for mudbane. That was your day, that's her favorite band it was very obvious, that obvious.
Speaker 3:that's what I was there for. So fuck those douchebags. They like talk the whole time, the whole time. And their big, tall faces, like they're so tall and big. And then they just turn and talk to each other and make themselves bigger. And then they held their phones up like a foot above their head, like you're not already seven and a half foot tall, now you gotta add ten more to it. Like, fuck you guys, don't have hate in your heart, amanda. Well, and then no, those guys are dicks.
Speaker 2:They were fucking dicks. I was pissed off for you. I was talking shit. I was telling them what a bunch of fucking dicks.
Speaker 3:They were the whole time they were running the show. I was talking shit and none of them turned around.
Speaker 2:Because they never shut up.
Speaker 3:Because they're fucking assholes.
Speaker 2:Fuck those guys, after the mud vein set, jesse has this crazy bitch behind him who just kept shouting out every member of Metallica over and over again.
Speaker 1:She was going at me too. Yeah, she was going at me. I just turned around and I watched the jumper for the other stage and I was just like I'm just going to turn around and watch this stuff here. But I let it go, I don't hang on to it, but I am so excited about today Snot, I'm fucking so excited. I know everybody can have hate in their heart for people that are being assholes and stuff at festivals and all, but just let it go, we're going to keep on cracking.
Speaker 3:Oh, no, 99% of the time, everything is great.
Speaker 2:Amazing. All the crowds are amazing. You only get a few. We make friends everywhere.
Speaker 3:Those guys. Just that was my first time getting to see Mudbane and seen Mudbane and I never thought I would ever get to see Mudbane ever in my whole life.
Speaker 2:We did our first together.
Speaker 3:Yeah, and those assholes stuck out in my head.
Speaker 2:Now, this will be our fourth. Now, this will be our fourth.
Speaker 1:Since 21.
Speaker 2:We have seen Mudbane four times after today.
Speaker 4:For sure, god, then we've done it all together, it was so good, oh, did you see him again? So four for us.
Speaker 2:Oh, did you see him again? Yeah, between them. Yeah, she's got more.
Speaker 3:So, four for us. Yeah, we've done four together, you are cooler than Val. Well, I mean, y'all have been to lots of shows that I haven't been to. That's true.
Speaker 1:Shout out to Marcus though, the touring guitar player with Mudvayne. He's an old home slice over there, so kick ass today, marcus. Yeah, snot, fucking snot. It's back together. It's not rip lynn straight, but a forefront leader for new metal and the the personality and the human being that we miss. Lynn straight, you know, seven dust wrote songs. They had, uh, just so much history just because of one person that really led the forefront of new metal. And we're going to go see them pretty soon, right after this pod.
Speaker 3:I'm so fucking ready. It's going to be so fun.
Speaker 1:Yeah, lindsay hasn't been riding the waves so much on that, but now she's ready. Yeah, I'm absolutely ready.
Speaker 2:I'm all about seeing something new. I love it. That is how I've discovered I don't want to say half, but a quarter of the bands that are in my heavy rotation now I've discovered at festivals or at Rockville.
Speaker 1:And they've got a guest drummer because their other drummer is actually on tour with another band right now. So there's a guest drummer with Snot today. The old drummer for Godsmack is going to be up there playing with him today, so that's cool was it shannon?
Speaker 3:his name's shannon?
Speaker 1:yeah, so he left godsmack. They got a new drummer, but we're gonna see him back there rocking the drums today. I'm just, I'm fucking ready. I want to, I want to. Y'all want to wrap this thing up.
Speaker 2:I can play a band well, um, I do want to. We didn't finish the last three that we're going to see. We're also going to see Bad Omens, icp, and finishing out the night with motherfucking Korn. It's Korn day. It's going to be Landon. He's over here today.
Speaker 3:And it'll be his first Korn-ing and Amaya's also. Amaya, amanda's daughter, it'll be her first corning and Amaya's also.
Speaker 2:Amaya, amanda's daughter.
Speaker 1:It'll be her first corning two corn babies. This is awesome. You guys are fucking gonna love it. How excited are you for corn Amaya? Say something she's shy yeah, the kids are shy or tired or sunburnt or hungover. The kids are shy or tired or sunburnt or all hungover or something.
Speaker 3:The kids are over 18.
Speaker 1:Yeah, they're partiers. We let them kind of free range a little bit but not too bad, they're over 18.
Speaker 3:Shut up.
Speaker 2:Yeah, they're old.
Speaker 1:We can't say shit about fuck they adults. I ain't saying shit about. Fuck Y'all at Rockville.
Speaker 2:And they know how to get everywhere and what they need to do, and that's wonderful.
Speaker 1:Survive. Here's a liquid IV. They know where camp is.
Speaker 2:They know where food is, and that's all that matters. Let's not talk about food because then I'll start eating snacks and I'll never stop. I know I'm starving right now.
Speaker 3:Oh, I'm not starving, I'll just eat all the snacks.
Speaker 1:So I have this cool ass band, though, called Fae Fatal.

Speaker 1:The fans are going to look amazing. This is me in real life.
Speaker 2:We're sweaty and gross In our element. Don't let.
Speaker 3:Lindsay lie. Lindsay always looks perfection, even at her dirtiest and grungiest and when I pan around and take a picture or video of her.
