SPEAKER_08It was really cool. Is it even in the winter where all the the foliage is kind of drawn back and everything, it was still really cool. So that was fun. Nice little walk. And then I didn't see that though.

SPEAKER_08Well, that's what we were going for, but actually, if you looked out in the in the ponds, they were all drawn. Okay, we saw a gator in the business. So we need to go back and like. Yeah, we're gonna go back when when spring has come.

SPEAKER_01Yes, Lindsay, you have some dirt to share with everybody, and I'm so today we're gonna be talking about uh the infamous female serial killer, Eileen Warnos. Now, I actually listened to a podcast the other day because I always listen to you know a few of them while I'm doing my research just to get everybody that I respect to get all their little insights into things. And one podcaster called her Aileen, which it is spelled that way, but everything else has ever always been Eileen. But she came, she went by Lean, Lee for short, but she went by many names, but we'll get into that.
SPEAKER_08But first, this is a good drink. This is how you do this.
Mean Internet Comments Spiral
SPEAKER_08Yeah.
SPEAKER_01But first, I want to do a new little segment I like to call comments I saw on the internet and mean people replied to them because this is why the internet scares me about putting a lot of shit out there.
SPEAKER_08You you you're you're like, I really don't I don't understand this, or you don't you want to put a comment there in the thread or whatever, and then you get hacked for it, or no.
SPEAKER_01Um I think that the video is perfectly fine, and then I jump into the comments and just because I know that there's gonna be some mean ones, and this one really shocked me. So this was a video of a girl who was 35 weeks pregnant with twins, and she was showing her belly. She had on a cute, cutest little comfy looking outfit. It was pink, it was soft looking, like you could have cuddled, like she had on like a little tube top pink and little soft little pink pants. She was adorable.
SPEAKER_08So she was feeling it. Yeah, she was feeling like it's a phone.
SPEAKER_01And her belly was huge because she has like two babies in there, right?
SPEAKER_08Oh, okay. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01I thought it was beautiful. And these were some of the comments that stuck out that I was like, holy shit, the world is horrible. So one lady said, Do you realize and these are all from women, by the way? This is a pregnant woman. Do you realize you are scaring young women to death over being pregnant? Get off the internet and keep your journey to yourself. This was a woman in her 50s. Another comment said how human of her.
SPEAKER_08That was so nice.
SPEAKER_01Another woman said, I don't know why you are showing this. And oh, I'm sorry, there was a dude one a dude said, not very attractive, this is private. Keep it personal, please, with two question marks. And then a fitness consultant said, Everything is not for the internet. Ridiculous.
SPEAKER_08So Boomer World. Like, how are we?
SPEAKER_06Yeah, and then I was woman, she's natural human being.
SPEAKER_01And well, these are all people in Gen X category, pretty much. I mean, 50s and 60s, that's Gen X.
SPEAKER_07Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And then uh a woman in her 60s said, How can you show all your business? Not right. She was it's just her belly.
SPEAKER_08It's just her belly.
SPEAKER_01And it was adorable to me. And it was fascinating to me because there's two children.
SPEAKER_08How would I how would I ever opinion about a woman in her motherhood, even if she's showing her belly off a little bit? So she has a tube top and her big belly hanging out the front. What's it?
SPEAKER_01So it would be so comfortable like that. Like when I was I really didn't like showing my belly, but um now where was she at?
SPEAKER_08I mean in her house.
SPEAKER_01What? Just showing that her belly, she was like, she was because she was about to have to. She's been putting her turning off.
SPEAKER_05I had a whistle behind that.
SPEAKER_01She's been sharing her pregnancy journey on Instagram reels and so forth. She's very proud of her baby.
SPEAKER_08You know, that she's not showing anything but her baby.
SPEAKER_01Absolutely not.

SPEAKER_01I was just horrified.
SPEAKER_08Her lovely lady lump.
SPEAKER_01So yeah, the internet's mean. Be nice, people. If you don't particularly like or agree with what you see, just scroll past it. In fact, if you comment, that shit is gonna get into your algorithm, and you're gonna see more shit like that. So you're just being an idiot. I mean, honestly.

Feeling Old And The Change Jar
SPEAKER_01Yes. So another thing I wanted to ask you what's one thing that happened to you this week that made you feel old?
SPEAKER_08That made me feel old? Waking up every damn morning makes me feel old. Lindsay. I mean, at 43 though, it's you know, it's common, you know, there's a lot of things. But now you're gonna bring that to my mind and I'm gonna start thinking about it.
SPEAKER_01I mean, I'm gonna ask you this every week now.
SPEAKER_08Oh, Lindsay.
SPEAKER_01It's part of my new plan. I've got it written down.

SPEAKER_01So mine was um our gallon jug of change was full. And it was time to go cash it in. When I picked it up, I hurt my shoulder.
SPEAKER_08Oh, well, that has to be like 40 pounds. It's a whole gallon pickle jar.
SPEAKER_01So, and then I go to our bank, I you know, because I usually go through drive-thru to make my deposit every week, and I get out, I'm holding this change like a baby so it doesn't hurt my shoulder.
SPEAKER_08Why didn't you tell me to do that? I would have taken it.
SPEAKER_01Well, because I was going to the bank anyway.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, but that's usually my job, and I feel cool about it because it's fun. Like changing a change.
SPEAKER_01Our bank doesn't have that anymore.

SPEAKER_01So we went to Publix and we had a grand total of $350 in change. Yeah. But it charged $38. You know.
SPEAKER_08I have done that four times, maybe more.

Hurricane Helene And A Hospital Call
SPEAKER_08that's awesome.
SPEAKER_01That's what I hope uh gave your sister when she got hit by a tornado. Fucking hell.
SPEAKER_08A whole tornado, a tree fell on my sister.
SPEAKER_01During our hurricane Helene.
SPEAKER_08Helene.
SPEAKER_01Yes, we were having our own hurricane party out here, and she was at a different one. And after everything passed over and we went on to sleep.
SPEAKER_08No, I get a call at 3 a.m. in the morning. In the middle, like I'm looking out and trees are bent over. We're in the middle. 3 a.m.
SPEAKER_01and Shelly was lonely. Yeah. She is lonely.
SPEAKER_08In the hospital. In the hospital. Like they put her in a closet. She didn't I told the woman, I was like, dude, I can't drive in this.
SPEAKER_01No, it was still very wet.
SPEAKER_08As soon as it's daylight, you know, I'm gonna go to the hospital and get her.
SPEAKER_01Because we didn't know what our town looked like. The hospital was free. And half of our town was trashed.
SPEAKER_08And that was the last ambulance run that they did in our county.
SPEAKER_01Wow. Was to pick her up.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, and they had to they had to she's still kind of struggling for that. They had to gurney her and towed her across the couple of uh properties just to get her out. They couldn't even get to her trees. And her knee was was dislocated twice, and shoulder was busted up. A whole tree fell on them on the back porch. So as soon as it's daylight, I'm not laughing, but it's just like the situation's just like, and it's um the only way reason why I would even chuckle is because it's my sister, and then she's in this. Of course, I'm the next I'm gonna I'm gonna give her a shit. I'm gonna give her shit. Yeah, as long as she's alive, I'm gonna I'm gonna cut up at her.
SPEAKER_01We thrived during hurricanes at this house because we have an outdoor burner and grill. We cooked it up. We had 15 people in this house, yeah, and it smelled like ass.
SPEAKER_08It did. It stunk. No no power, just yeah, just for breeze and air fresheners. Half of them didn't even take a shower before the storm.
SPEAKER_01I'm like, we made everybody. We went to the laundromat and washed towels, made sure everybody could get clean. There was a lot of things.
SPEAKER_08It was a good excuse for us to get the F away.
SPEAKER_01We picked up breakfast at McDonald's. Thank you, McDonald's, for having power.

SPEAKER_01Because I didn't want to because we were cooking three meals a day here, and I was like, fuck, yeah. Get out for a minute.

West Memphis Three Evidence Update
SPEAKER_01right. So I have just a little update on the West Memphis 3, because remember, I told you last week that I had heard on a podcast from three years ago, they had found the evidence that had supposedly been burnt in a fire, but it had not. And nobody investigated this. So they found it now. Is it? They found it. The evidence is real. And I found an interview that last podcast on the left did with Damien and Lori. What? Just this past November because I'm a little behind with theirs because I've been doing research on our own.

SPEAKER_01Fucking Arkansas, man. I don't understand. If they know without a shadow of a doubt that these kids did it, why not test evidence? They don't pay them fucking men. They don't want to pay them. They can't. They got out on an alpha pre. That's what I'm saying. What is the logic behind it? Damien, Jason, and Jesse can never be null and void.
SPEAKER_08I mean, really. No, because that's what they took to get out of prison.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, because they uh Damien would be gone by the way.
SPEAKER_08Well then they should sue, they should they can still sue them sue anything for unlawful pre imprisonment. No, they can't not.
SPEAKER_01That's part of the alpha plea.
SPEAKER_08What about the wives? Old ladies, like they're not. I don't know, but they need to do that.
SPEAKER_01So this is what I'm this is what I'm saying. If they knew without a shadow of a doubt, that those men, now men, boys back then, killed these little boys, why won't they test it? To prove it. To prove it once and for all. Right. And why would Damien, Jesse, and Jason be pushing so hard 30 years later to get it tested if they were not innocent? You know what I mean?

SPEAKER_08Just fucking do it. Because it doesn't matter either way.
SPEAKER_01It doesn't matter. It's just to clear their name.

SPEAKER_01Because there are mother, stupid assholes out there that actually think that they still did it.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, they need to, they need to do it anyhow and be like, this is this is the results. Y'all were wrong, even though we said we were wrong just to get out of, you know, the death penalty.
SPEAKER_01And what and I mean, the main reason that Lori was on that interview with Damien is because she handles all that shit. Damien tries not to relive it as much as possible, but she is still doing the work. She did the work while he was on death row, married him on death row, because she knew without a shadow of a doubt in her heart everything, this man did not do this. I'm gonna put in the work. And she said, you know, because I said I put in the story in in our coverage of this case, when they tested the one shoelace, and none of the DNA came back to any of them.

SPEAKER_01None of it came back to them. It still took them three years to get out of prison on an alpha plea.

SPEAKER_01And that was, yeah. So, and now we here we are three years later after they found this evidence intact, and it still can't be tested.

So um, and I'm like, oh, I gotta catch up with them boys. Because I've been on another one that I'm like listening to all their backlog, plus doing research for our own. So, anyways, so yeah, that's my I I'm my fingers are crossed, prayers, vibes, all of that going up that that shit can be finalized once and for all. When Damian did an interview with uh Gillian Pensavalli and Patrick Hines from True Crime Obsessed, he said, I just want to know who the murderer was that was in my hometown. Who could do something this horrible?

Why Eileen Wuornos Still Fascinates
SPEAKER_01Yes. Eileen is is she's up there. So we haven't done too many heavy hitters. So we've done famous cases, but not. I think this is our first serial killer that we've covered.

SPEAKER_01So, anyways, when I watched the 2003 movie Monster, I became obsessed with this case. I uh was actually visiting my sisters for Christmas, and we watched it. And first of all, I couldn't believe how the incredibly beautiful actress Charlize Thuron transformed herself into Eileen. Because there is no other word.

SPEAKER_01She put her heart and soul in that role, man. And she won awards for that shit, and she should have won them all.

SPEAKER_01So I went on to look up everything I could find on her interviews, documentaries, and so forth, and have listened to several podcasts. So here is the story of Eileen Ward.
SPEAKER_08Why didn't I tie that together when you said that last week? And you said the name, and I was like, I don't want to say I know because I'm not sure if I know, don't remember if I know. But now I know. And now we're fixing to know.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, well, you're gonna get to know Eileen a little bit better because they don't give a lot of her backstory in the movies. Oh, yeah.
Childhood Abuse And A Life Derailing
SPEAKER_07Okay.
SPEAKER_01So Eileen was born Eileen Carol Pittman on February 29th. She was a leap year baby. This was in 1956, Rochester, Michigan. Her mother, Diane Warnos, was only 14 years old when she married 18-year-old Leo Pittman. Eileen had an older brother named Keith, who was born in 1955. And then Eileen was born the very next year when Diane was only 16. And only two years later, Diane and Leo were divorced. Could you imagine? I mean, I was married and divorced at a young age, but married at 14, I hadn't given up playing with dolls. Much before that.
SPEAKER_08Wait till you're 30.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it's it's pretty good. Even though having a sleepover for our 11-year-old last night and bringing his friend with us today has tested our patience just a little bit. But we got through it. It's whatever. Eileen never met her father, and he was sentenced to life in prison for the kidnapping and trigger warning and rape of a seven-year-old girl.
SPEAKER_08Oh. Right off rip. Setting everything up. Parents are setting it up. Here we go again. All right.
SPEAKER_01Oh, it's gonna happen over and over. You're gonna see a pattern.
SPEAKER_08It's a pattern already. That's why, yeah, that's why I said that. God.
SPEAKER_01Leo was diagnosed with schizophrenia and died by suicide, hanging himself in prison in 1969.
SPEAKER_00It was the summer of 69.
SPEAKER_01Okay, so Diane abandoned her children when Eileen was only four years old, leaving them with her parents, Lori and Britta Warnos. Laurie is the man. Okay. Yeah, that's his name.
SPEAKER_08I'm gonna try to keep tracking.
SPEAKER_01Yes. Laurie is the grandfather.
SPEAKER_08As long as the Sheila lets me, I'm gonna try to keep tracking there.
SPEAKER_01Britta is the grandmother. Okay. So they legally adopted her and Keith in 1960. Eileen would say that they were both alcoholics, and her grandfather would beat her and sexually assault her as a child and would force her to strip for beating her.

SPEAKER_01So I yeah, and I don't and I always I was like, why would he call? I mean, sex work is work, and unfortunately, some people have to fall into it to survive. Eileen is a big thing in that film.
SPEAKER_08She was brought into it. I mean, that that's I mean, the biggest influence in life at that age, yeah. Should do whatever you need to do.
SPEAKER_01And I was gonna say, and this is really sad to me because of the palm all because of the sexual abuse she endured as a child, she would use this as a validation type thing. She would use that to try to earn affection, boyfriends, things like that. Um didn't know anything different. Right.

SPEAKER_01She would think that some of these guys were her actual boyfriends, but in public, they would either pretend they didn't know her or humiliate her. And one would later test like verbally testify how awful he was to her. And when you We'll watch the interview after I do part four.
SPEAKER_08Starving for real affection. It's really human connection, right? Real something positive.
SPEAKER_01She also said that she also said that her and Keith would engage in some Cersei and Jamie Lannister type situation. And this is in several sources and out of her own.

SPEAKER_01That is so at 14, she became pregnant from the rape of a family friend, one of her grandfather's friends, and would give birth to a boy on March 23rd, 1971, in the Florence Crittenden home for unwed mothers. You know, because that was a thing back then in the 60s and 70s, or actually before, you know, there was a time period. She named the boy Keith after her brother, and the baby was immediately given up for adoption. She dropped out of school shortly after this, and around this time, her grandmother died of liver failure, and her grandfather threw her out of the house at 15. It said that at her grandmother's funeral, she showed up, and I don't know why, but I okay, I'm gonna keep going. She showed up at the funeral, lit a cigarette, and blew the smoke in her grandmother's face. So I just picture like Charlie's Theron because that's who played her in the movie, like just showing up in like a biker outfit and just like lighting a cigarette. And I know it's terrible. That's kind of Hollywood though, for real.
SPEAKER_08But she was kicked out.
SPEAKER_01Complete failure. She was kicked out, but switched the signs to the men and women's bathroom before she left.

SPEAKER_01Like, we start going and you're you're rattling and I'm rattling, and it's like, this is kind of so what I love about their dynamics so much is they've been doing this over ten over a decade, well over a decade, and they still laugh very genuinely hard at Henry's shit because you never know what's gonna come out of his mouth.
SPEAKER_08I'm surprised at this point, and I'm I know we're taking a break in this story for a second. I'm surprised at this point right now how I'm realizing that this is addicting, and it's it's a good addiction because we're spreading it's awareness, we're spreading history, awareness, horrible history, but it's awareness. And and the the the trends, like I keep saying, starts in the household, starts for the parents, you know. It's wow, you start finding that.
SPEAKER_01Yep. So she went on to live in the woods and supported herself through sex work, and apparently there were other rejected kids that lived out there as well. I didn't write this in my notes, but I know for a fact that there was uh a homosexual boy who stayed out there with her, and he had been kicked out because he was gay. He had been kicked out of his house to live in these fucking woods in Michigan, it's fucking cold.

SPEAKER_01And there were several other kids out there, and then one of her who became her lifelong friends, I don't know, her name was Don. Don like visited her and like became very protective over her.
SPEAKER_08Right, bring her stuff, bring it, yeah. And then see the whole situation. There's probably like a little gang of kids out there in the woods. Yeah, like they were alive.
SPEAKER_01So some residents near the woods would let her sleep in abandoned cars on a cold night. And I mean, like we have already talked about, in my humble opinion, she just never had a chance. She just never had a chance.
SPEAKER_08No, wasn't taught anything about just good human moral rights? No, not at all.
SPEAKER_01What people sexual assault from from your first memory. Yeah.
SPEAKER_08And yeah, ingrained in as childhood, and you don't know anything different.
Drifting, Arrests, And Violent Patterns
SPEAKER_01So she pretty much became a full-time drifter and sex worker. And on May 27th, 1974, she was 18, and she got a DUI in Jefferson County, Colorado, along with being arrested for firing a pistol from a moving vehicle. So she was drunk firing pistols, and yeah, so but she pieced out of there before she could get charged. Now, Eileen had become very confrontational, erratic, and would be very belligerent. Like she was, I don't know if you remember a little bit from the movie, but she was very confident.

SPEAKER_08Jail would have been perfect at a way better life, you know. But goodness.
SPEAKER_01When she was 20, her grandfather committed suicide by carbon monoxide in his garage by letting the car engine run. But Eileen did not go to that funeral. I mean, I would have. I would have lit that motherfucker on fire for what he did to me as a child, but maybe it was just like she could have gone back and at least switched the signs.
SPEAKER_08They've been confused since then.
SPEAKER_01No, if I was going to go to that motherfucker's funeral, there would have been fire somewhere. Fire. Be like Cersei showing up with wildfire, just green, blow up everywhere.
SPEAKER_08Yes, the battle of the black water.
SPEAKER_01Then her brother, who was like the only person that truly loved her, you know, besides Don, her friend that I'll go on to talk talk about.
SPEAKER_08So that was the only point where she actually had some real some kind of, but it was still kind of not.
SPEAKER_01No, I mean it was fucked up. It was I mean, they were like caught. There was witnesses to their to their to their Lannister action.
SPEAKER_08The Lannister shuffle.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. So he died of so.
SPEAKER_08So we're we're on Game of Thrones right now. Yeah, we're we keep it.
SPEAKER_01We we we uh rewatch Game of Thrones every January to get rid of the Christmas blues, and uh it's just our tradition now.

SPEAKER_01I've been so invested in it, like I've watched it for the first time every year. I'm like, I don't I don't want to go to sleep, I want to watch it for finding new stuff because we're looking at it. Every time, every time we find new shit, or there's something that I don't remember. Yeah, so her brother died of cancer and left her 10 grand in his life insurance policy. So she's 20. He's only 21. He's only a year older than her, yes. It was either stomach or throat cancer. I can't remember, but I know yeah. Yeah. So she could have used that if she had had any kind of direction or teaching in life.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, that was a hand up, yeah.
SPEAKER_01She could have used that to turn her life around, but she went through it in two months. $10,000 back then is about $75,000 now.
SPEAKER_08It would definitely feel like it. You could do that much with it for sure.
SPEAKER_01She bought a vehicle but wrecked it beyond repair soon after getting it. So she hitchhiked down to Florida where she met a very wealthy yacht club president, Lewis Gratzwell. He had picked her up hitchhiking, I'm guessing, because that was her gig. That was what she did. She hitchhiked.
SPEAKER_08Was comfortable traveling like that.
SPEAKER_01She was a hitchhiker and she was a sex one.
SPEAKER_08I'll do whatever it takes to get to the next city. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Lewis was 69 years old. She was 20. They got married, but it did not last long. Wow. She would make a spectacle of herself in their local bar being confrontational and belligerent, and Lewis soon realized that he didn't want any part of this scene, and it all came to an end when she beat the shit out of him with his own cane. Apparently, he was really frugal and only gave her like $30 a day. And she didn't like that.
SPEAKER_08She was used to making that quick money.
SPEAKER_01So Fel got a restraining order against her and annulled the marriage, like very soon after. This was very fast. Yeah. Now, during her life, she would write letters to the friend that I mentioned, Don. She would write them all the time. And so I was talking about Henry Zabrowski in last podcast on the left. Well, in their coverage on this, Jackie, his sister, who is also into comedy, she reads the letters, and it's you can literally picture Eileen Warnos from the way she reads these letters, is perfect. Yes.
SPEAKER_08Rough and tough with their Afropo. So fucking rough. That is really crazy, though. Like, God. Just start in life at all, and just no, it was locked in. It's horrible. It was locked in.
SPEAKER_01Now, like a lot of other podcasters will say, and I agree as well, and I've seen there are many other people that go through these same hardships that do not end up doing what Eileen goes on to do. But you can understand how it can fuck you up for life. Yeah. I haven't been through a fraction of what this woman went through, but I went through a lot more in one of the things that you ever put together.
SPEAKER_08Right. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01But the little bit that I went through has fucked me up, not to the point of hurting anybody, but just it made life a little hard to deal with at times. Like I said, I I I sympathize with the child, not the adult in this situation, if that makes any sense.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, as a full grown adult making common sense.
SPEAKER_01She wrote in one letter to Don about a night that she hung out with Fog Hat in Juno Beach, Florida. Slow Red. Yeah. Take it. And she said that the lead vocalist was a paquito.
SPEAKER_06Why she gotta talk about the man's junk, man? Why? Why she gotta talk about his junk?
SPEAKER_01Because that's what women do. Just gonna go ahead and put that out there.
SPEAKER_08They talk about the junk, man. That's oh, whatever. I mean, it is what it is.

SPEAKER_01And I mean the secrets. The letter is very funny. But uh, because she was very she was she used something milk.

SPEAKER_01Now in 78, she did attempt suicide at 22. She's 22 here. She's already lived a fucking lifetime of bullshit. Horror. Horror. She attempted suicide at 22 by shooting herself in the stomach. And this was her sixth attempt at suicide. Wow. Yeah. I couldn't find the other ways, not that I would have talked about them, but I couldn't find, but I just seen that in the research. This was her sixth attempt.
SPEAKER_08But that's the next step. Like you can't find out.
SPEAKER_01But these are also a lot of the research is everything that comes out of her mouth. So you have to take a lot of what she says out of contact with a grain of salt. Yeah.
SPEAKER_08It's just completely blown out. Like if she was anything like the movie, if she doesn't like, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Sh Charlie Stheron engulfed Eileen Wardos. So we'll just put it that way. That was she was Eileen Wardos.

SPEAKER_01So in 81, she robbed a convenience store for $35 and two packs of smokes. At the time, she was living with a man named David Watts, and he was 52. This shows a lot of father issues here to me. Every man or sugar baby type thing because she's younger. These are all older men.

SPEAKER_01And he was an auto mechanic. And this only lasted two months until she committed that robbery. Apparently, there was a huge fight beforehand. And she committed this robbery wearing a bikini. She's in Daytona at this point.

SPEAKER_01So this would land her in prison until 83. And this whole robbery was a does he really love me tactic that did not work. Like, let me go see what I can do to get his attention and see if he's gonna come bail me up. We have spent a lot of time in Daytona, you guys, and it's wild. It's wild because we've had 4th of July celebrations there with some of our best friends. Because I mean the beaches are great. You can bring your easy up chairs, spend the whole day on the beach.
SPEAKER_08You're on the beach, yeah.
SPEAKER_01You're on the beach the whole day, and then that is also where now Rockville has been held since 2021, and it's massive, and it's right there at the Speedway. So we have spent a lot of time in Daytona.
SPEAKER_08But as far as spending time downtown in Daytona, we do it in groups, and we don't do a whole lot. No. No. At our age, I'm definitely not.
SPEAKER_01No, I mean we do think we walk along the beachways and go to that little club that we went to with the live band that one night with Timmy and Cindy was so fun.
SPEAKER_06What was it called?
SPEAKER_01I'll have to ask them something like that.
SPEAKER_06That bitch was bad.
SPEAKER_01It was so fun. We were exhausted. We had should have chugged a Celsius.
SPEAKER_06That night was amazing.
SPEAKER_01And then it was right on the beach. Damn. Damn, I can't remember. I'll ask Cindy.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, when you go to Daytona and you see the sign where it says World's Most Famous Beach, you just go through that and it's down uh boardwalk area. There's a bar down under under the board. There's like a boardwalk and it's under it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, because most of the hotels that we've rented in that area, we it's all right around that area, right around the hopping spots. But I personally have gotten now, not during our 4th of July time, but during our Rockville time, I've gotten screwed on two different hotel rooms. Yeah. One overcharged me, and then another one was dirty when we got there at one in the morning.
SPEAKER_08Yeah.
SPEAKER_01That was disheartening. So that's why we can't now.
SPEAKER_08That was just the property attendant. Wasn't even supposed to be fixed.
SPEAKER_01He was just the maintenance guy. Yeah. Yeah. He was supposed to be fixing pipes. He had to come clean our.
SPEAKER_08Kudos to him. Yeah. But still, we waited three hours. Three hours.
SPEAKER_01So he could get us clean sheets and wash the shower and stuff for us.
SPEAKER_08Get it together, Daytona.
SPEAKER_01We ended up getting money back.
SPEAKER_08That's how everybody went to like Myrtle Beach or somewhere else now. It's not the party city it used to be because it's just declined. Or maybe we're just old boomers and young kids don't give a fuck.
SPEAKER_01No, because the people that were staying in the room right next to us, what it was was a motel that had changed their whole thing into a boutique Airbnb.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, you were you were you were kind of building it up the whole time too.
SPEAKER_01Because the description was so cute. The pictures were cute, and it was a disaster. So now we can't.
SPEAKER_08But I you know I took it as a grain of salt. I just chilled.
SPEAKER_01I paid $1,100 for that shit.
SPEAKER_08I was muddling a little bit, but I wasn't being a dickhead like I normally.
SPEAKER_01No, I was I was the dickhead through email. I was the dickhead through email. Because we checked in on Thursday night and we didn't get that room clean till Sunday, y'all.
SPEAKER_07Yeah.
SPEAKER_01We used we had to go buy our own towels. We had to clean up the mess from the previous attendance. It was insane. She said while she was locked up that she was really disgusted by all the lesbians and read her Bible a lot. But she did place a personal ad. She trips me out. Eileen trips me out. She placed a personal ad in a biker magazine to which she got a lot of responses. When she got out, she chose one of her responders. Did God tell her to do that? That was out of her mouth. Sorry to poke you right there. Because you'll go on to see that she wasn't really disgusted by the lesbians. Okay. So when she got out, she chose one of her responders who was a 47-year-old engineer named Ed. And she hitched hiked up to DC to live with him.
SPEAKER_08From Daytona to DC.
SPEAKER_01Whatever prison is near Daytona, yeah. The rubber. So she would borrow his car to go see her ex David, the one that she was with in Florida.
SPEAKER_08She had to get a little bit mouth.
SPEAKER_01She would go back and forth. Can you the mileage? The mileage. That's eleven hours.
SPEAKER_08No, that's 12 hours at least. Fuck.
SPEAKER_00Eileen, what were you doing? I'm gonna go up nine to five. And she would also
SPEAKER_06Get me some money from DC, and then I'll go back down to Daytona. Yeah. My song sucks together.
SPEAKER_01So, like I said, David's fifty-two, Ed's forty-seven, the ex-husband was in his late sixties.
SPEAKER_08They was all getting played.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. So she would steal from both of them. And Ed finally got rid of her after she drank herself into the hospital. Yeah. She had a hospital visit from excessive drinking. Almost killed her.
SPEAKER_08It would take me five seconds to know that this here trout trap was just shot the fuck out. Honestly.
SPEAKER_00I mean, she had a way about her though.
SPEAKER_08I sympathize all the way up to the age of 16. Because 20 for me. When she got the check. I sympathized to that point, okay? I'll give it to you. It's 20. 20 was when she got the check. Yeah, okay. I sympathize to 20. After that.
SPEAKER_01I sympathize all the way because that does carry you throughout your life.
SPEAKER_08But if she's wanting to commit suicide and everything, you gotta find the correct help. God.
SPEAKER_01Mm-hmm. But this was the 70s, 80s. There wasn't there's still a stigma about all that. It's yeah. There's still a stigma. Ed would go on to say that Eileen lived in a fantasy world and wanted a Bonnie and Clyde type relationship where they would go through the country killing and robbing.
SPEAKER_08He wanted that.
SPEAKER_01Eileen wanted that.
SPEAKER_08Eileen wanted that. Ed would later on say that.
SPEAKER_01So she wrote another letter to Don stating that she was dating a John, because you know, that's what they did.
SPEAKER_08She would have been a great advocate for something like that, you know? Like just to shoot up the damn world and take it over and then go out in a blaze of bullets. That's what she wanted.
SPEAKER_06I was gonna say bullets, but yeah, yeah. Whatever.
SPEAKER_01Sorry, you guys. So she wrote another letter to Don stating that she was dating a John, who, you know, that's what they call their customers, John. That was a police officer. And she said they were watching some porn. And then he asked her if she wanted to see something that would really trip her out. She agrees, and she said that it was a bunch of cops in uniform and their wives all getting it on together. And there was some bestiality involved with a police dog.
SPEAKER_08A dog?
SPEAKER_01Yes.
SPEAKER_08And I was hoping for some snuff a lotus, man. You know, a little snuffy film or something.
SPEAKER_01It was snuff. It was I mean, that's pretty bad.

SPEAKER_01So after this, she was a big thing.

SPEAKER_01After this, she declined that officer and hated cops. Like she would go on to absolutely they disgusted her after this. So she heads back down to Florida. She's been in DC, but she heads back down to Florida, still drifting, still sex working, and now has started carrying a gun full time. She starts to really escalate after this. She was arrested for forged checks in Key West in 84. In 85, she was named as a suspect in stealing a revolver in Pasco County. Where is Pascoe County? Is that Tampa?

SPEAKER_08It's one of the greatest bands ever in the past. Is that where um Port Yusuf Newport Beach from Pasco?
SPEAKER_01That's right. Okay. So that's that one town that we used to go to for the powwow?
SPEAKER_08Yeah. What was that one called? Oh God, there's there was a couple of them down there. Star Something Ranch. Remember the there was a lot of things.
SPEAKER_01What was that one that we went to all the time? There was two down there that was in a cowfield, but one we always went to, and they had the gourd dancing and stuff with Matt.

So in 86, she was arrested and charged with car theft, resisting arrest, and obstruction of justice, and was questioned later on in 86 after being accused of pulling a gun on a John and demanding $200. She got away with most of these crimes because of her several aliases. She also went by Sandra Is it Sandra D? No, Sandra, I don't even know how you would pronounce this. Sandra Kretsch. Susan Lynn Blahovak Blahovic.

SPEAKER_01Lee Blahovic, Cammy Marsh Green, and Lori Christine Grody. And then by her friends, she was all known as Lee.

Tyra Moore And The Money Pressure
SPEAKER_01Well, I guess she got over that because also in 1986, she would meet the love of her life, Tyra Moore, at a gay bar called Zodiac. And Tyra went by Ty. And even before Ty, she had a brief relationship with a woman named Tony. She had said she bought Tony a pressure washer business, and then Tony just took off. Tyra worked as a hotel maid in Daytona Beach. They quickly moved in together, and Lee was the major breadwinner in this relationship because of she kept rallying around back to Daytona.

SPEAKER_01She would say that even in the 80s, she was making two to four hundred dollars a day.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, that's a quick money. That's what I was talking about earlier.
SPEAKER_01And even, I mean, even with two two incomes here, they were still lived a very drifter, drifter-esque lifestyle. But stayed in Daytona. They were living in different hotels. I think there was one that they mostly stayed at, and I think that was the one that Ty worked at. And they drank and partied all the time. Ty would have a lot of friends over, and that would cause Eileen to be jealous at times. And most of the friends said that she was outwardly friendly, but would quickly change into someone that scared the shit out of them. Like one friend said that during a Thanksgiving meal consisting of TV dinners, Eileen instead of eating, just stared at her.
SPEAKER_08Really? Keep looking at me. That was that was kind of cool. That was kind of cool. Oh yeah. I mean, no, but yeah.
SPEAKER_01Okay, I'm gonna transform into Eileen.

SPEAKER_01No, no, no, no, no. So by 1989, the hard road of being a drifter, drugs, cigarettes, and lack of self-care had caused her looks to decline. Yes. And she was really hard to be around. It's hard to be around.

SPEAKER_01When I got this way.

SPEAKER_01So it was harder and harder for her to get clients. She would start pulling out fake pictures of kids while hitchhiking to get money by pity or an exchange of sex.
SPEAKER_08She had all the tricks.
SPEAKER_01And she like largely blamed the Gulf War because remember it started around that time. Because a lot of her regulars were military men and they all got deployed. Bye-bye money. So to keep supporting Ty, who she did start calling her wife, and the lifestyle that they had become accustomed to, she started to take a few seven to be exact, drastic measures to make money.
Part One Cliffhanger And Music Plug

SPEAKER_01Because we don't like Ivan, but he's got a good voice.
SPEAKER_08Uh the ones that I've talked most, uh the members that I've talked most with was uh Jesse Stamper. And we used to talk about our last names because I'm Stan Ball, he's Stamper. And uh friends with him, friends with a couple of the other members too, and it's really cool because it kind of tied in. We played with them twice.
SPEAKER_01Oh, look at you, you have a little scrape with Moto Grator too.
SPEAKER_08Yes, you have, and um it was uh a phenomenal time, and they put on a great show.
SPEAKER_01We saw uh one time was the archetype, and then what was the other time?
SPEAKER_08It was both times our archetype was it architects archetype, which is no longer in Jacksonville.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that's suck. Hung out was a cool video.
SPEAKER_08Hung out with the boys a little bit the first time. Because we were smokers back then. Second time, remember the lights were going in and out? That was the second time we're on the back porch and the power went out like twice. And I'm hanging out like I'm just sitting around the table and like hanging out with Motigrator, and uh, so that was the time that we got to hang out with um pretty much the whole crew. It was really cool. The guys were really nice. It you could tell that they are just pushing to try to further their career with their music. And Motigrator was based on a musical instrument that they had created called a MotoGrator.

SPEAKER_08Well, no, I'm okay. I'm gonna go over them real quick. Gotcha because he sang with them. Okay, they're just amazing, um, just amazing band. But he left them and decided to do his own thing.

SPEAKER_08We were fine, a little bit of wind outside. It wasn't bad, but it was dusted.
SPEAKER_01Yes, and uh he got all the seven dust.

SPEAKER_01I've had two Seven Dust shows with you, but I've still seen them now like seven times, I think. Yeah.
SPEAKER_08Those guys are so big. And you've seen them. They embrace Silas just so big.
SPEAKER_01Oh, LaShawn is just uh just a wonderful.
SPEAKER_08Well, Morgan too, because we were wearing Morgan's, he had that little uh side project with his solo album and his face on the shirt, and I bought the the CD and his sign stuff and all that. And Morgan got up and from his drum set and gave Silas a drumstick, and afterwards they gave him a hug, and he's like loving the shirt and our clothes, and and he's like, You made my night, bro. And he's just loving Silas just was embraced by Seven Dust.
SPEAKER_01Oh, yeah, I'll all the videos you sent me. I was at work. Phenomenal. I couldn't get off work to go. It was a phenomenal time. The only downfall to working night shifts, it's better for my mental health, but sometimes I have to miss out on things.

So I work in uh construction, like road construction, but I do like all the uh maintenance and uh purchasing for the repairs and everything. So it's tough, especially when you have certain people that are just unskilled but are saying that they're skilled. I don't know if you've noticed that too, like in the workforce.

SPEAKER_08I I get it, I don't mind teaching people, but don't show up and be like you know everything, but you're gonna be able to do it.
SPEAKER_01I was gonna say, yeah, I'm a trainer at my job and I see that all the time. Sometimes they come out amazing, and sometimes it's just struggles.
SPEAKER_08It's tough. But you know, it is what it is. People that's just life doing their thing.
SPEAKER_01I don't really hold it against them, but at the same time, you know, I'm like Yeah, we have very average Joe jobs, but it's the older you get though, the less patient you get with people though.

Setting The Timeline For The Murders
SPEAKER_01right. So last week we gave you some background into Eileen and told you of her horrific childhood, which led her to become a drifter and sex worker and had quite a few run-ins with the law. By 1986, she was in a relationship with a woman named Tyrea Moore who goes by Ty. Tyree Moore was not the innocent child who was embracing her sexuality as portrayed in the character of Selby in the movie Monster. We watched Monster after part one.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, yeah, that was that was weird to me. That's why I didn't really know.
SPEAKER_01I don't think that, yeah, they I think they had to change their name for legal reasons. They changed her whole story because that's not what happened.
SPEAKER_08So Tyria Moore was her amour.
SPEAKER_01Yes. So she was actually quite the troublemaker herself and would participate in some of the drunken shenanigans that Eileen would be a part of. Now, in 1989, as I mentioned in last episode, Eileen's looks had diminished due to her hard life, and she had had a hard time getting clientele for her sex work career. Ty was also growing tired of her, and she was the love of Eileen's life. And Eileen was trying to do whatever she could to keep her and their party lifestyle going.
Richard Mallory And Three Stories
SPEAKER_01So on the night of November 30th, 1989, Eileen was stressed out and trying to make some money. It said that her and Ty were trying to get out of the hotel they were living in and get a better place. And Eileen needed to get the money up, or Ty was gone. Ty was out. So around 10:30 p.m., a man named Richard Mallory picked up Eileen while she was hitchhiking. Richard was an electronic store owner from Clearwater. While they were driving, he was drinking vodka and smoking a joint while Eileen was drinking beer. They pulled over to a spot to do the deed and continued talking and drinking. Now this lasted all the way until 5 a.m. before Mallory and Eileen would make their transaction. If you want what we'll call it that.

SPEAKER_08Yeah.
SPEAKER_01So Eileen took off her clothing and Mallory didn't want to get completely undressed. Eileen was opposed to this and said he wasn't going to zipper fuck her.
SPEAKER_08Eileen says that he They was sitting there for like six hours.
SPEAKER_01Six hours.
SPEAKER_08And he's just like, I'm just gonna pull this thing out and wiggle, wiggle, wiggle.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, so that I'm gonna go ahead and blanket trigger warning. A lot of shit.
SPEAKER_08So from here forward.
SPEAKER_01And also know that everything that is said is given, is testimony given by Eileen that she does go back and forth on and that she will change several times. I just the truth is somewhere in the middle.
SPEAKER_08It's scattered all the way through everything. Just take I did watch a couple of interviews and things with her. She is bouncing, especially like from the beginning to the end, like she bounces back and forth with that.
SPEAKER_01Well, let's not forget her father was a diagnosed schizophrenic. She was definitely that is an inherited trait at some times.
SPEAKER_08So if you do if you do look and you see any of her interviews or anything like on YouTube, she it's rough, isn't it? She's showing traits of that and bipolar, and she shot out.
SPEAKER_01Yes, very much so. And I mean, and she had she lived a hard life.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, she lived a hard life existence.
SPEAKER_01So Eileen says that Richard Mallory, that he tied her wrist to the steering wheel and tried to sodomize her, then tied a cord around her neck and started pulling on it. She said she got her hands loose and shot him in the chest until he was dead and watched for around 15 minutes as he bled out.
SPEAKER_08So at this point, it's almost halfway justifiable. Well, you but she had planned on moving, did she?
SPEAKER_01I don't know. We don't know. So this is the what is portrayed in the movie to the the first one to be the this is the first killing that she did, and this is the point where she snaps. Yeah. And it's not a hundred percent clear if this is actually what happened or if she was just so desperate and was tired of doing what she was doing, but didn't know how to do anything else. You know what I mean?
SPEAKER_08Yeah, I I clearly feel like that was the only way that she felt like she could have an existence was to do that kind of work. Exactly. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01So she then moved him and covered him with a piece of carpet. Now, this was one of her three versions of this story. Ty would later on say that Eileen got back to the hotel. She mentioned nothing of rape and had no marks or bruises, and all that Eileen said was, I killed a man today. But she showed up with a car and money to move into that apartment, and Ty was happy about that.
SPEAKER_08So that's so sweet. Right.
SPEAKER_01Now, like I said, the the story of this murder has been told a few different ways, and Richard Mallory had been to prison for rape when he was 19 and was released a few years later. This was up in Maine. He had been a well-known John in the Daytona area, and none of the other sex workers had reported any abuse from their transactions with him. So this was a first. Eileen also wrote a letter to Don about this and said that Richard Mallory had talked about his hatred for women and even talked about killing his ex-wife, so she did shoot him in cold blood, and there was no self-defense. That was what was in her letter to Don Batkins. Wow. The friend that I told you she she sends Don letters throughout the years. Yeah. Mallory became a missing person, and his body was found on December 13th. Now, this was November 30th, was when it happened. So they found his body on December 13th. Fast forward to that was uh December 13th, 1989. So fast forward to May 19th, 1990.
David Spears And A Theory Shift
SPEAKER_01So she had had a cooling off period. Eileen was picked up by a 47-year-old construction worker named David Spears from Winter Garden. He was on his way to see his ex-wife and three kids, and he did this every weekend. Now, see, David and his wife were divorced but had remained very close, and he was actually about to ask her to remarry him that weekend. Wow. And this particular weekend was also his daughter's 23rd birthday, and he had a lot of cash as a present to her.
SPEAKER_08So do was gonna ask his old lady to marry him, and he's all like, wait a minute, I got a pocket full of money. He's all like, look, be a lady.
SPEAKER_01I don't think that that's what happened. I don't think that's happened. All right, so like I was gonna say in my script, why did he pick up Eileen? We will never know. He was only about 30 minutes from his destination, and it was outside of his character not to be somewhere on time. And for some reason, he drove her 80 miles out of the way. And Eileen said that they got drunk, started fooling around in the cab of the truck, then moved on to the bed of the truck.
SPEAKER_08So I feel like she was probably trying to hitchhike or do something like that. He got caught up in it, and then got caught up in it. Probably. Well, I'm gonna get there. Hold on. I don't know. I don't feel like that's very strange. Go ahead.
SPEAKER_01Yes. So she says that he got violent and she spotted a lead pipe, which prompted her to grab her gun and shoot him dead. She's saying that she thought he was going to rape her with this lead pipe. So before he could, she shot him dead. She left him on the side of the road and took off with the $500 that was meant for his daughter for her birthday. Eileen says that she shot him three times, but when he was found, it was actually six. Wow. And he was found naked, but still had his hat on.
SPEAKER_08She put his hat on. It would have fallen off.
SPEAKER_01She says that they didn't have sex, but he was naked and there was an empty condom wrapper. I think that this was a good Samaritan act gone wrong. As you yeah.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, I think I'm nailing it.
SPEAKER_01I think I mean she I think that she held him at gunpoint to take him that far out of the way because she did have a gun and staged the rest.
SPEAKER_08Right. Clearly, everything that you had said earlier is him like a a stand-up dude. He was just wanting to go and yeah, because it doesn't make any sense.
SPEAKER_01Why are you gonna try and pick up a sex worker on your way to your daughter's birthday party? You're only 30 minutes away, you're gonna ask your ex-wife to remarry her. I just think that he was just picking her up to give her a ride. Because by this point, picking up hitchhikers was no longer um, it was no longer in style or in it was no longer a good thing to do because there had been so many murders that we will talk about later on.
SPEAKER_08I'm guilty of picking up hitchhikers myself. Oh god, not me.
SPEAKER_01Well, I'm a woman. But um the only hitchhikers that were being picked up at this point in time were women because they figured that women were in distress.
SPEAKER_08I've never picked up a female hitchhiker. Wow. I've only picked up male hitchhackers. Do you know I've picked up three in my lifetime?
SPEAKER_01My poor granny, God rest her soul, my wayward uncle talked her into picking up a hitchhiker one time. And I want to say this was late 90s, early 2000s, who was dressed like a woman, but ended up being a man, and they robbed that person, robbed my granny. Yeah. My granny went through some shit.
SPEAKER_08That's just like really has. If anybody else has any stories about hitchhikers, yeah. So the one, the last one that I picked up, yeah. Like I said, if you have any stories about them, like let us know. I want to hear some hitchhiker stories.

SPEAKER_08Oh, so the one I picked up though, we talked about the Beatles the whole way.
SPEAKER_01Really?
SPEAKER_08Yeah, I was on my way to Mobile, Alabama. This dude rode with me damn near all the way there.
SPEAKER_01My dad picked up hitchhikers when I was the only other person in the car with him when I was younger, which didn't bother me then. But now as an adult looking back, I'm like, what the fuck?
SPEAKER_08The only thing that bothered me was the guy didn't smell very good.
SPEAKER_01Oh.
SPEAKER_08But I literally, I literally rolled down the windows and I wanted to hear that what this guy's his story. Uh I really did. That was more intrigued. Because I had the five-hour journey from here to mobile, picked him up as soon as I got on iTunes.
SPEAKER_01So you just wanted some company.
SPEAKER_08Ah, yeah. I had a long drive.
SPEAKER_01And you were by yourself?
SPEAKER_08By myself. Oh, God. I ballsed up. I'm so glad you survived that. Big burly dude, too. Like, and I was just like, come on in.
SPEAKER_03And how old were you?
SPEAKER_08Twenty three. No, I must have been twenty five. I was twenty five. Still. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01But you're in you're a large, intimidating man.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, but I didn't feel like I was I didn't I didn't think that when I I don't know why. He kind of, you know, the military jacket, the the bag, and everything. I was like, you know.
SPEAKER_01Well, you know, a lot of them wear that for sympathy.
SPEAKER_08Well, I mean it wasn't it wasn't the I didn't think that he was a veteran. I didn't we didn't even talk about that.
SPEAKER_01I was just I'm glad that you had a good experience with that. And I'm glad that the ones my dad picked up while I was a young female in the car did not go wrong. But absolutely never.
SPEAKER_08And then the other two, like it was just I would never short jump.
SPEAKER_01Like because I was, I mean, I was a single mom for a long time, and like I already knew about hitchhiking type killings, so I was there was absolutely in people's life stuff.
SPEAKER_08Right things, like real shit that should really happen. So that's why I was that's why I'm offering like somebody tell me your story about hitchhiker. I want uh I get intrigued by that, so that's really cool. Go back to the old flap trap.
SPEAKER_01Okay, so two weeks later, on May 31st, 1990.
Escalation Across Florida Highways
SPEAKER_01Let's let me go back and see when that date was. So David Spears was May 19th. Okay, so now we're on May 31st. Shorter cool-off period. She was picked up by Charles Karskaden. I want to say that that's how you pronounce it. I think so. Karskaden or car or Karskadden. Charles Karskaden, who was 40 years old and a part-time rodeo worker. He was on his way to pick up his fiance and head to Missouri, where he had just been hired as a punch press operator. I meant to Google what that was and forgot. Do you know?
SPEAKER_08A punch press operator?
SPEAKER_01That's is that like a factory worker?
SPEAKER_08Yeah. Okay. So he's he's doing he's stamping out metal, I think.
SPEAKER_01So Eileen shot him because he had a pistol in his back seat. So in her mind, that meant that he was going to kill her. So she says. So she shot him nine times. Never minding no harm. She dumped his body, wrapped it in an electric blanket, and then went home to tie. They went out and played target practice with his gun. What? That's right. She later pawned his gun with her fingerprints, but used one of her aliases. And this will later on.
SPEAKER_08I guess Florida doesn't didn't check it that much then, eh?
SPEAKER_01Well, they used fingerprints. I'm really not sure, but I know the fingerprints end up with the case.
SPEAKER_08Oh, I think okay.

SPEAKER_01Next, she was picked up by Peter Sims, who was 65 and a retired merchant seaman. He was now a missionary and was headed to Arkansas from Jupiter, Florida. Eileen said they had planned to make their transaction in a blanket in the woods. Remember that scene from Monster?
SPEAKER_08Oh, that was a missionary?
SPEAKER_01Well, that in the true story it was, yes. Eileen says that he was about to rape her. So she shot him and left his body right there where he lied and took the car.
SPEAKER_08I bet I know what position he was going to get in.
SPEAKER_01Stop it. She was very drunk at this time and later on couldn't remember where his body was, and he has never been found. Really? Never. His body's never been found.
SPEAKER_08He got ate up by one of them gaiters.
SPEAKER_01Probably. Or any other thing that lives in our woods and forests.
SPEAKER_08There's some critters over there.
SPEAKER_01So up until now, she had been dumping the cars after a couple of days, but she liked this one and kept it a little while longer. This was a Pontiac sunbird. Do you remember what that was?
SPEAKER_08Yeah, a little sporty kind of. Yeah. Up and down Daytoning the Sunbird.
SPEAKER_01And she actually kept one of the many Bibles that was in this car in her entire apartment. Wow. Yeah.
SPEAKER_08Wow. So wow. This dude was so um don't maybe he probably picked her up too. Like I think that they was.
SPEAKER_01I think all of the rest of the one after the first one. I think Richard Mallory might have tried to rape her. Honestly, I really think so.
SPEAKER_07Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Or do something that she didn't want to do and it went too far.

SPEAKER_01But the rest of these, I believe, all good Samaritan.

Sunbird Crash And Sketches Circulate
SPEAKER_01So on the 4th of July, Ty and Eileen were drinking and having a good time while out driving this sunbird, and Ty crashed the car into a ditch in a neighborhood with a lot of houses.
SPEAKER_08They was drunk.
SPEAKER_01They was that this whole story is drunk driving. Like all it, every bit of it. There is no sober. There's no sober. Period.
SPEAKER_08That's in the movie, just portrayed like in the movie, too, right? Okay. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01So people came running out to help, but Eileen and Ty peace the fuck out. The people didn't get their names, of course, but the faces were remembered because they had memorable faces. And some sketches were drawn up and put out on the news. None of the murders so far had connected themselves because they were in different jurisdictions, because she was hitchhiking everywhere. I mean, this one guy is it was in Jupiter, and you know, I mean, they were everywhere. And then one, what she took him, that other one, the the second one, she took him 80 miles out of the way, David Spears.
SPEAKER_07Right.
SPEAKER_01So, I mean, and that I I believe that that was on purpose. All across not just to have some sex, but because she held his ass at gunpoint. This is my my belief that she held him at gunpoint to take him way out so she could get her shit.
SPEAKER_08That makes more sense, too. Like once she's in the car, she's in control.
SPEAKER_01Because she's got a gun. All you gotta do is point it at somebody's head and they're gonna do what you ask them to do, especially a man who's trying to go home.

SPEAKER_01So sorry. They didn't connect that uh they also didn't connect a woman to these because she killed like a man. Poison is usually a woman's weapon, and I agree with this. Poison is much quicker.
SPEAKER_08And those, okay, only one was a known John. So, like everybody else, they have things going on in life. Right. Yeah, it it it clearly every one of these dudes don't seem like Johns. They do not seem like like they frequent the uh street brothels.
SPEAKER_01Right. And like I said before, by this time, most people that were picked up from hitchhiking were women because it had become outdated to pick up high chicken hit high chicken. It had become outdated to pick up hitchhiking men because of previous killings and robberies made by male hitchhikers.
More Victims And Execution Style Shots
SPEAKER_01Now, next, Eileen was picked up by Troy Burris, a 50-year-old sausage salesman from O'Cala.
SPEAKER_08I bet he was a sausage salesman.
SPEAKER_01His body was found horribly decomposed on July 31st, and he had been shot twice. There's not a lot more on him. Next was 56-year-old Charles Humphreys, who was a retired Air Force major, former chief of police, and at that time was a CPS investigator.
SPEAKER_07Oh, not Johns. Not Johns. Not Johns.
SPEAKER_01Right.
SPEAKER_07Yeah.
SPEAKER_01He was killed on September 11th, 1990, and was discovered the next day by some kids. Oh. Oh, God. Behind some deserted housing developments.
SPEAKER_08So she's just scattering all over the place. All over Florida, not even just Daytona.
SPEAKER_01So Troy Burris was fully dressed with his pockets turned out and had seven bullets. They had been delivered execution style.
SPEAKER_08So now they're on their knees and she's, yeah, from the angle of the dangle.
SPEAKER_01Now, you know, a lot of uh other sources and and podcasters say that she, you know, she hated cops. So this might be why she overkilled.
SPEAKER_08But she dated cops.
SPEAKER_01She well, she let remember after that one video that that one cop showed her, she was disgusted by after that.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, that's true.
SPEAKER_01Disgusted. But at this point, it really just seems like she was winning one. I know she was killing for sports or robbery. I mean, to be exact, you know, this was straight, she was just this is easy money.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, for sure. And she's working it. Yeah. Just all over the state. It's insane to me.
SPEAKER_01All right. Eileen's last victim was Walter Antonio, a 61-year-old trucker, security guard, and reserve police officer. This was on November 17th, 1990, almost a year after her first kill. His body was found nearly naked and shot four times in Dixie County, and his car was later found in Brevard County. That's a big distance.
SPEAKER_08That might be the one I was talking about. Dixie County, right? Yeah.
SPEAKER_01That's where my parents live, right?
SPEAKER_08Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Okay. And Brevard is that's five hours away.
SPEAKER_08Brevard's on down south.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it's about five hours away. That's where our wayward son was for a little while.
SPEAKER_08Yeah. Brevard. But um, goodness, she's just slaying all over the state. And that's number seven. Mm-hmm. Linz. And they're like just Joes. Like close to retirement, or they they're good.
SPEAKER_01Like I said, I really believe they're good dudes.
SPEAKER_08Okay. Except for one.
SPEAKER_01I kind of believe the Richard Mallory story, but I think everybody else was just a gave her that one. Samaritan should be.

SPEAKER_01And whatever Richard Mallory did between 11 or 10:30 p.m. and then 5 a.m. the next morning.

Bucket And Drums Make The Arrest
SPEAKER_01after after the sketches were out on the news, they were blasted everywhere. Ty got scared and moved back home to Pittston, Pennsylvania. Not Pittsburgh.
SPEAKER_08So her folks were all the way up there and she's down in Daytona trying to live it up.
SPEAKER_01So their previous landlords called up police and were like, hey, I know these two and they are always up to no good. Because they they were spectacles.
SPEAKER_08I mean, they were wide the flying open.
SPEAKER_01Yes. So along with matching pond items and blood and the bloody, there was a bloody handprint left in the sunbird. They were on to Eileen. So on January 9th, 1991, two under Hold on.

SPEAKER_01It's to okay. Two undercover police officers that went by the name Bucket and Drums. No, are you kidding me right now?
SPEAKER_08Bucket. Bucket and drums can be find y'all. Y'all better watch out now. Don't be picking up no flap traps out there.
SPEAKER_01So they went to go hang out at the bar, the last resort. They show that in the movie.

SPEAKER_01So the undercover police officers named Bucket and Drum went to hang out at last resort where Eileen was a regular.

SPEAKER_01So they were posing as drug dealers from Georgia on vacation.

SPEAKER_01Which I mean, you know, it's like it makes sense.

SPEAKER_01So free ride. Eileen passed out on a chair after drinking all night, and the bartender left her there to sleep it off. And when she woke up, they arrested her for an outstanding warrant on one of her aliases.

SPEAKER_01Do you know that the bar slogan became cold beer and killer women after that?

SPEAKER_01Alright, we gotta keep going. We gotta leave. Okay. So they locate Ty in Pennsylvania and got her to testify.

SPEAKER_01So they locate Ty in Pennsylvania and got her to testify against Eileen for immunity and to get her to confess through recorded jailhouse phone calls to get Eileen to confess. Eileen did finally confess either to protect Ty or just to get it off her chest. Now, Ty was definitely a part of this because she knew at least about one. She knew about Richard Mallory and turned a blind eye to the rest.
SPEAKER_08I guarantee she didn't know.
SPEAKER_01I mean, Eileen's just showing up with money, cars, and guns. I mean, you know.
SPEAKER_08And she bragging about it wide open. I guarantee she's not.
SPEAKER_01Well, she she did, according to all the stories, she did for sure tell Ty about Richard Mallory. So this all immediately became a cash game. And prosecutors, Eileen's lawyer, and officers were trying to sell her story.
Ty’s Immunity Deal And Confession Calls
SPEAKER_01This was a big deal. A woman serial killer that killed like a man, this is a big deal. But it's only over like $500 a trick. That was the most she got.
SPEAKER_08That's what I'm saying, Lindsay. What the fuck's gonna make you do that over $500? I can't wrap my head around that.
SPEAKER_01I can't either. Uh like I said, I think along, I mean, my humble opinion here, along with her childhood, the fear of losing the love of her life, and honestly, the no longer wanting to fuck men anymore, but had no other skills or didn't know how to make money any other way, I think that it all just came to a head, and there was a snap. I I even if Richard Mallory had treated her the way he did.
SPEAKER_08I get this one. I get that one. Yeah. You know, I get that one.
SPEAKER_01Why it I think that that may have been the only self-defense if that even happened, because she did tell three different stories about that. So um there was the another version was that she just didn't want to do what he wanted to do, so she shot him. Um, so like I said, that's pretty much what she told Don in the letter to her about that situation.
SPEAKER_08I don't know. I mean, I I get that one. The rest, uh Paul Harvey's got to tell that one. I don't know.

SPEAKER_01That was the whole that that voice was the bane of my existence as a child when I had to go to work with my dad.
SPEAKER_08We grew up in the Paul Harvey generation. God that was like a real, I mean, honestly, if you look, we gotta I gotta hold up a little little credit to Paul Harvey because that was like podcasting for sure. I mean, yeah, it was. Go ahead there, Lance.
SPEAKER_01She had actually ran into a producer's mother before she was arrested, who gave her her daughter's card. She sold her story to that producer right away after she got arrested for $60 a month. A month. Not a week. A month.

SPEAKER_01There have been two movies, as we know. Um, the other one is called Overkill with Gene Smart, the tall blonde from uh Designing Women. She's been in several movies. I'll have to well maybe we'll watch that one too, because I've never watched that one.

SPEAKER_01No, because Charlie Theron transformed herself into Eileen, where Overkill is made Eileen look like a first interviews, and I had never seen Eileen before, like real Eileen.
SPEAKER_08I've watched the movie Monster with You before, and then we watched it again after you know last weekend. I had never physically seen this woman.
SPEAKER_01Didn't she do a great job?
SPEAKER_08During this week, during the it's scary. Yeah, I mean, I thought it was the same woman. How? That was amazing. Wow. And she just did had no concept of what was what real was real.
SPEAKER_01No, no, no, and it was just she lit she lived in a very small, horrible world.
SPEAKER_08And she stripped down, she lit she lived in a tent in the woods in like a commune type situation, did a little Lannister work with her brother. He died off, got a little grip, and then that should have been.
SPEAKER_01I mean, I really think that the two main people other than Don Botkins and somebody that I'm gonna talk about here in a minute, Keith and Ty were the honestly the two loves of her life.
SPEAKER_08I felt like I really feel like after her brother had died and she got that little bit of money, if she would have walked the right path, she could have become a a a great person. But there was still some things going on there mentally.
SPEAKER_01Well, yeah, let's recap it.

SPEAKER_01Her father. Okay, her father was arrested and she never met him, but he was arrested and sent to prison for the rape and murder of a seven-year-old child. He killed himself in prison after he was diagnosed with schizophrenia. Okay. Her mom abandoned her with her grandparents, her and Keith, who ended up abusing, well, the grandfather ended up abusing her while the grandmother let it happen, right? Let him come over and then she pretty much is selling herself for cigarettes, food, and drugs.
SPEAKER_08What'd you call her the cigarette?
SPEAKER_01They called her the cigarette pig.
SPEAKER_08Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And she was looking for affection from these boys while she she was doing this as a teenager.
SPEAKER_08As a teen.
SPEAKER_01She's looking for affection from these boys who were doing this with her, but they treated her like a piece of shit.
SPEAKER_08And everybody sold her short, and she was fine with five dollars, probably, thinking that that was a couple.
SPEAKER_01And then her grandmother dies, then her grandfather kills himself, then Keith dies, and you know, she marries a 69-year-old man at 20 years old. She gets with a lot of older men. It's just it was just a continual pattern of sadness.
SPEAKER_08It's horrible. It's horrible. And the the real snap part was the only justifiable thing that she probably could have got out of, and then still settled for only less. I mean, um only one $500 trick and thought that she had it going on. They're living lavish.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Five hundred dollars in the early 90s was a lot of money.
SPEAKER_08But it was But it wasn't enough to get by.
SPEAKER_01Like well, no, I mean, this was just what she planned to keep doing.
SPEAKER_08But anyhow.

Courtroom Rage And Dr Legal
SPEAKER_01tried for each murder in their different jurisdictions. She did keep the self-defense story going for a long time. But with her taped confession and Ty's testimony, her self-defense claim did not take, and she was found guilty of first-degree murder for all of them and was sentenced to death. Now she was found guilty for only six of the murders because they never found Peterson's body. That was the one I was telling you about earlier. Never found his body, so she did not get tried for that.
SPEAKER_08So it was eight, really. No, it was seven, but six.
SPEAKER_01She got tried for six. Yeah, but there were seven total. I don't know. That we that we know about. So she told the judge in open court that she hopes he gets raped in the ass one day and that his wife and kids get raped right in the ass. That is verbatim. That is exactly what she said.
SPEAKER_08That's more buggery. That's more buggery than we need to know about.
SPEAKER_01So she got a lawyer named Dr. Legal, who was an old hippie who Dr. Legal? Yeah, literally.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_01Who liked who liked to smoke the ganja and do cover songs of Pink Floyd? He's the woman called Dr. Legal. He's gonna make it feel all right. In a documentary I watched, he literally called the ride to see Eileen in prison a seven-joint ride and would play a tape of his own recorded music. And he had hair like Bob Ross. Bob Ross.

SPEAKER_01Now he took her case pro bono thinking he could.

SPEAKER_01He took her case pro bono thinking he could also make money off her story and was basically her agent. Like, yeah, that's because she had already been tried.
SPEAKER_08I believe you, Eileen. The weed, let me know.
SPEAKER_01He did this along with a woman named Arlene Prail. Arlene had took interest in Eileen from her first trial and would go on to be her adoptive mother so she could visit her. Because on death row, uh I'm pretty sure on death row, only family or spouses can visit. And the next of kin get rights when she was put to death. Like, because at this point she actually had like a little legacy going.
SPEAKER_08A little celebrity. Yeah. Yeah, for sure. I myself don't really know anything about celebrity serial killers other than the huge ones that we'll do way later on because there's so much comedy.
SPEAKER_01Well, the the she was a big one. She was a big one. The next one, Games World Rapper, or anything was actually not that popular, and you will be horrified. I mean, okay, I'm not I'm not gonna tell anymore because I'm gonna save that for later.
SPEAKER_08So I can't wait for next week.
SPEAKER_01Okay, so Arlene, not Eileen, but Arlene was a born-again Christian and a horse breeder. This whole relationship started because Eileen had said that Jesus told her that a Christian woman would write her a letter, and a couple days later, she got a letter from Arlene. You know what? Probably. I didn't do a deep dive into Arlene. Yes.
SPEAKER_08O'Cala's horse country in Florida.
SPEAKER_01Eileen seriously thought that she would get exonerated from all the murders and that she would go to live with Arlene and raise she wolves.
SPEAKER_08She wolves? Yes. They're just gonna raise wolves, female wolves, and O'Cala. I don't know if this is O'Cala.
SPEAKER_01I'm not 100% sure. I did not do a deep dive on Arlene.
SPEAKER_08We should have. We're gonna find out. We're gonna find out.
SPEAKER_01So Dr. Legal, which his name was Stephen Glazer. Dr. Legal and Arlene would persuade Eileen to plead no contest.
SPEAKER_06This sounds like a circus to me.

SPEAKER_08I mean I am I am her legal doctor. Doctor. Feel good. Um what was it? Not feel good. Dr. Legal. Dr. Legal. Dr. Legal's gotcha girl.
SPEAKER_01Dr. Legal, who was Stephen Glazer, and Arlene would persuade Eileen to plead no contest to the last four murder charges. But Eileen still got four more death sentences. See, Arlene told Eileen that if she went ahead and died, she would go get to meet Jesus a lot sooner.

Death Row, Last Meal, Last Words
SPEAKER_01So in 2001, after being on death row for about 10 years, Eileen did confess that the whole self-defense thing was a lie. And she had shot all the men in cold blood. But this was mostly to get the ball rolling on her death date. Because they push him back and push him back. As we've seen from the West Methodist 3 case with Damian Eccles, he was on death row for 18 years.
SPEAKER_08Luckily, they pushed that one back.
SPEAKER_01Thank God.
SPEAKER_08Because it sucks that they they rotted so long in prison.
SPEAKER_01Because when you're on death row, you're in solitary confinement from the day from day one.
SPEAKER_08But in this case, in this one, speedy trial, speedy execution. So I'm I'm I'm I'm I seem like I'm a hard ass and and it's not really that justifiable as far as the legal system goes.
SPEAKER_01I still don't know how I feel about the death penalty. But we'll we'll talk about that another day. She does say to Nick Broomfield in his documentary that it was self-defense, but she had to say otherwise to die, basically. And she was ready. So her last meal was KFC and French fries, and her last words were I would just like to say that I'm sailing with the rock, and I'll be back like Independence Day with Jesus. June 6th, like the movie. Big Mother Shipping All. I'll be back. I'll be back.
SPEAKER_08You know, we took a break earlier. And I kept singing Martina McBride's Independence Day. And Lindsay's like, why you keep? I'm like, it's in my head. What's in your head right now, Lindsay? What song? Right now.

SPEAKER_01So on October 9th, 2002, at 9 47 a.m., Eileen was put to death by lethal injection. She had requested Natalie Merchant's song Carnival to be played at her funeral. That's what I sent you earlier this week.
SPEAKER_05Oh sweet. That's the jam.
SPEAKER_01Her and her Bible were cremated together and sent to Don Botkins, who spread them around a tree in Michigan. So she went back to where it all started. I will never be a serial killer, so I have no idea how I would die.
SPEAKER_08Just be done with it.
SPEAKER_01I don't know if I'd want to die there.
SPEAKER_08I like the cremation idea.
SPEAKER_01Oh yeah. Cremation to me is what because you know why? I have fear of being buried alive.
SPEAKER_08Or they can make you into rocks. You know that?
SPEAKER_01Well, yeah, that's what I'm saying. Cremate me and make me into joy, put me in a tree, do something like that.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, that's kind of cool. I like that. Yeah. I mean, we all go back to the earth.
SPEAKER_01Native Americans And that's what I would rather do was be back in the earth, not in a casket.
SPEAKER_08It's like, okay, when you when you look at um all of what we're made of, you know, and what the universe is made of and everything, we all just go back to the earth.
SPEAKER_01I don't want to be in a casket.
SPEAKER_08Native Americans believe that. Why have a shr? We don't need a shrine, you know? I mean, you can have personal just give everybody a rock that's made out of me. That'd be cool.
